Breaking News... We are thrilled to announce that Aldi UK will be launching our paper Frugal Bottles in store across the UK on March 18. Aldi becomes the UK’s first supermarket to launch own-brand paper wine bottles. The Cambalala South African Shiraz (£7.99, 75cl) and Cambalala South African Sauvignon Blanc (£7.99, 75cl). The Aldi bottles will also be launched at ProWein from this Sunday at Frugalpac’s stand at Hall 9 Stand B71. It will be an interactive stand that will unveil the future of wine retailing. Can a small sticker on a piece of fruit really make a big difference in the world? VML Colombia took on the sizeable challenge of food waste for supermarket chain Makro, using one of the simplest tools possible: fruit stickers. These unique labels show ways to use fruit and veggies at each stage of ripeness. The results were powerful—an incredible 70 tons of food saved and an extended freshness by an average of six days per item. Pieces with the stickers even outsold those without. The project, 'Life Extending Stickers' won two Wood Pencils and three Graphite Pencils at D&AD Awards 2024, along with a coveted Yellow Pencil in the Promotional Packaging Design category. Speaking to D&AD in this interview for the 2024 Annual, VML’s Chief Creative Officer Juan José Posada reflects: “Fruits and vegetables have a life cycle… we just needed to mimic that. It’s very easy to explain now, but it took months… for some reason, we tend to overcomplicate things.” He adds, “If there are designers that see this and have a supermarket as an account, please use the stickers.
