Just another workshop photo? Over the past month, we have been working closely with every people leader here at Manaaki Tāngata | Victim Support to refine and adopt a new support model to guide all our practice and work. And a whole bunch of other changes that are rolling out this year. This is a really big deal for us, developed over the past year by our front line and with our front line. This isn’t about ‘fixing’ a few things; we’ve looked way beyond that into what a future Aotearoa would need from us all. It’s simple: how do we help our people to help more people. And get everyone home in good shape for their loved ones too. And that’s the kōrero that really got to me. I grabbed this shot, feeling so moved and proud as one of our amazing Team Leaders shared how our new model finally gave her time to reflect, take a lunch break, and have something left in the tank when she got home. When I started here, I heard some heartbreaking stories about what the opposite of this felt like. We still have a way to go, but we have taken a massive leap this month, thanks to our incredible team.
