The LiveFree OKC Peace Needs Conference was truly a powerful experience. The conference brought together a diverse group of voices from law enforcement, engaged citizens, and activists to faith leaders and elected officials. Together, we focused on policies of peace and community-driven solutions to one of the most pressing issues in our society: gun violence. Some of the sessions tackled critical topics like gun violence in America, community violence intervention, school-based violence prevention, and how faith communities can become true houses of peace. What struck me the most was the commitment to finding common ground – putting politics aside to build consensus for a safer future. As the board president of LiveFree OKC, I’ve witnessed firsthand the dedication and heart of our team. Their tireless work in serving Ward 7, is making a real difference – more of our children are making it home safely every day. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished, but there’s still so much work to be done. If you believe in peace, justice, and a future free of gun violence, I invite you to join us.
