When I prepare for public speaking, I use a very simple but highly effective method: Find a Speaking Sparring Partner 🗣️ Let me explain. This preparation method is very different from what everyone else uses and has helped me speak at the biggest events within Technology and AI globally. First, I find a speaking sparring partner, and we look at the theme together. They assist me with deep research because I tend to do too many things. We ideate on what could be interesting for the audience. What's going to be an engaging story? I put myself in the audience's shoes—not focusing on what I want to tell them, but on what I think they would be interested in hearing 💡 Then I start preparing the PowerPoint presentation. It’s like creating a fine-dining meal: we add ingredients until it’s ready to be presented, just like one of my favourite dishes My model does not follow the typical routes of outsourcing research. It’s a collaboration with my sparring partner. We share ideas and documents, and then I visualise them, thinking: Is it going to be the right story? I always try to include some funny stories or anecdotes to keep the audience engaged. No cheesy entrances—just realism. Which public speaking tactics do you use?

A few years ago, I was tasked with delivering a presentation on a topic I was passionate about. I spent hours researching, crafting the perfect slides, and practicing my delivery. Use auditory highlighting. As you highlight something important in the textbook or notebook with highlighter Similarly When speaking about something important, think of it as highlighting with your voice. Here’s how you can do it: 1. Pitch –>Raise or lower your voice to emphasize key points. 2. Tone –>Shift between serious, excited, or curious tones to keep the audience engaged. 3. Volume –>Speak louder or softer depending on the intensity of your message. 4. Speed –>Slow down to emphasize, speed up to create energy. 5. Tip 28: Use Template for Public Speaking Using templates for public speaking can be really helpful, especially when you're preparing for a speech or presentation. They provide a structure that can make it easier to organize your thoughts and ensure you cover all necessary points. Here are a few common templates you might find useful: 1. The Classic Structure: - Introduction: Grab the audience's attention with a hook (an interesting fact, quote, or question). - Body: Present your main points, typically 2-3 key ideas, with supporting evidence or stories. - Conclusion: Summarize your main points and leave the audience with a strong closing statement or call to action. 2. Problem-Solution Format: - Introduction: Introduce the problem you're addressing. - Body: Discuss the implications of the problem and then present your solution. - Conclusion: Emphasize the benefits of your solution and how it can be implemented. 3. Chronological Order: - Introduction: Set the stage for your topic. - Body: Discuss events or points in the order they occurred, which is especially useful for storytelling. - Conclusion: Reflect on the journey and its significance. 4. The STAR Method (for personal stories): - Situation: Describe the context or challenge. - Task: Explain what you needed to accomplish. - Action: Share the steps you took to overcome the obstacle. - Result: Highlight the outcome and what you learned.

#3 Acronyms and Jargon!!!!! Having worked with many tech companies that LOVE their acronyms, it can isolate your audience--especially clients! If I have never heard the term "KPI" and you keep using it, I am going to feel left out and wondering what that is when I should be focused on what you are selling! If you want to use an acronym, define it first, say the acronym, then you can use the acronym throughout your presentation. For example "As we look at our key performance indicators or "KPI's" this quarter we have noticed XYZ, but looking at our KPI's for next quarter... Want more great public speaking tips? Do you identify with one or more of these situations when speaking in public? You will have a speech soon and you're excited to be able to communicate your work, but at the same time, you're starting to have second thoughts. 𝟭) I find myself on a compelling quest that must be accomplished! I feel intimidated by the blank slide and unsure of where to start. 𝟮) I feel like I'm juggling to create a story with my data. I struggle to organize my ideas, data, and results in a way that tells a coherent story. 𝟯) Fonts, colors, and visuals? What am I, an artist? I understand that the layout of the slides can be important, but I tend to focus more on the message itself. 𝟰) I have as many slides as pages in a novel. I want to display everything I have but I don’t know how to summarize it. 𝟱) I realize that I often sound mechanical, almost like a robot. I fill the slides with text for fear of forgetting something (and I read them!) 𝟲) I get so nervous before speaking that I shake like jelly! Sometimes, my voice shakes, and my mouth feels dry. 𝟳) I have speech quirks, including some ticks and tails. Sometimes, I hesitate about what comes next and get stuck. 𝟴) I'm more afraid of questions than the Day of the Living Dead. What should I do if I don't know how to respond to the question being asked? It’s normal to feel various emotions when speaking in public (I haven’t listed all of them, so the carousel is very long). The easiest way to instantly improve your #publicspeaking and #presentation skills? Do you remember the saying: A picture is worth a thousand words? Well, the same pretty much applies to public speaking…on more than one level, at that. So yes, you can start by: 1. Asking for #feedback which is (almost) always a great idea. As you go about it, make sure that people leave you with the blunt, unvarnished variety, which will largely depend on how you ask for it, of course.
 2. Better still, watching an actual video with your performance (whether in a #speech, a #keynote or a #debate) will make you notice things that you would otherwise never be aware of, starting from #microexpression #gestures and #bodylanguage in general, all the way to #storytelling #structure #creativity #authenticity #audience #impact 
 3. Go through a formal #publicspeakingtraining programme! The more tailored to your actual needs and real-life performance analysis, the better. If I were to choose the most important one of the three recommendations above, I would most likely go for No. 2! Its impact, however, will largely depend on the overall perceptiveness, humility, creative and analytical skills of the person in question. After all, even with decades of practical experience, some of the most experienced public speakers out there (i.e. politicians) often fail to recognize some of their most visible/obvious flaws, including those that their audience has long been instinctively(!) aware of (e.g. aloof/sarcastic/condescending expression). Can you think of at least one person whose #voice #presentationstyle or #communicationstyle has something profoundly annyoying to it, but the person in question is completely unaware of it?

It's a multifaceted skill encompassing more than being a good wordsmith. Consider the following four points: 1. Presence: How do you approach the stage? What can you do to create a presence that draws attention? What do your body language, eye contact, and vocal tonality say about you? 2. Engagement: How do you actively involve the audience? Do you ask thought-provoking questions that encourage participation? 3. Adaptability: Address the ability to read the room and adjust on the fly based on audience reactions or energy levels. This challenging skill often separates good speakers from great ones, keeping the audience intrigued. 4. Memorability: How do you make your speech memorable? This means more than using powerful visuals. Have you crafted an impactful statement you repeat often during your presentation, keeping your audience engaged and focused?
