It was a great talk at the NARO National Convention where our very own Ben Holliday spoke about "The Digital Pipeline" and reviewed the basics of flaring and usage of natural gas to power crypto and AI compute. Can clean energy handle the AI boom? Great analysis from Vox on how the AI and crypto booms are increasing the demand of datacenters and how those datacenters are extremely energy-hungry. So this datacenters' map should give you an idea of where energy demand is growing: https://lnkd.in/drAnrxSf LNG has a bright future ahead. https://lnkd.in/dAFmWSne

Great episode from Digital Wildcatters! While part of their "Energizing Bitcoin" series, the episode dives deep into energizing AI, including Crusoe's funding successes, where large-scale AI processing firms will get their power and at what price, and a ton more. Great dialogue - lots of questions still to be answered, but great that these guys are asking them! https://lnkd.in/gzqPduzq
Crusoe raises $3.4 billion, MAX releases Money Electric, Mara goes Off-Grid, Google goes nuclear!

Artificial intelligence is no longer some far-fetched concept ‒ the future is now. Join us Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. est for a discussion into how the energy sector can best structure its systems to succeed in the new AI reality unfolding before our very eyes. Our panel will focus on: · IP and related frameworks around AI data management strategies · Energy data collection · Energy data licensing and potential monetization Contact Ellen Auwarter (ecauwarter@duanemorris.com) or Courtney Risch (CRisch@duanemorris.com) for registration link.

"You have to take a full systems approach and recognize that different data center design and different assets on site will interact with the grid differently." SIP Senior Partner Sayles Braga recently sat down with E&E News for a wide-ranging conversation on data centers, the unique nature of processing AI computing loads, and how to unlock large-scale flexibility that stabilizes and strengthens the electrical grid. Check out the full story: https://lnkd.in/ev_7vE3U
Big Tech is stress testing the grid. It doesn't have to be a disaster.

AI DATA CENTERS will be consuming 20% of US power by 2030 The "Magnificent Seven" big Tech corporations are all doing deals to get their AI engines powered by nuke juice if Australia is going to be part of the AI revolution then gigawatt-scale nuke plants are an imperative so they can provide GW scale, rock-steady, cheap, reliable AND carbon-free power Sadly, our Energy Minister Chris Bowen is in a state of denial when it comes to the essential & vital qualities of nukes He's lost in a solar/wind/battery fantasy-land that can only lead to the de-industrialisation & impoverishment of our Australia - just like Deutschland https://lnkd.in/grzaN26W

Something I learned yesterday at the Engineers Australia Climate Smart Engineering conference, which really made me stop and think - a single Chat GPT search uses nearly 10 times more energy than a Google search (about 2.9 watt-hours compared to 0.3). I've never really thought about the energy consumption behind our online activities in this way, so I got curious and dug a little deeper... I found that 155,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity is used to mine one Bitcoin! It's crazy when you start to think about energy consumption in this way and the data centres, processing power and infrastructure required to support it all. Our offline consumption is not only shifting to online, it's multiplying at an exponential rate! Thanks to Colette Munro and the AI / Digital panel for shedding light on this important topic.
