🌟 Word of the Day – CELEBRATION 🌟 Celebration is a noun that refers to the act of marking a special occasion or event with festivities, joy, and communal activities. It signifies recognition and appreciation of significant moments, fostering unity and happiness. At Langdale Care Homes, celebration is at the heart of what we do. From recognising milestones and achievements to embracing seasonal festivities, we create joyful moments that uplift spirits and bring our community closer together. These celebrations strengthen bonds among residents, staff, and families, fostering a vibrant and caring environment. 💙 The importance of celebration aligns beautifully with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Single Assessment Framework under the "Well-Led" and "Caring" domains. It allows us to meet not only the practical needs of our residents but also their emotional and social well-being. These meaningful engagements enhance dignity, respect, and the overall quality of life for everyone in our care. By embracing celebration, we cultivate a culture of joy, appreciation, and togetherness across all our homes. These shared experiences build meaningful connections and create an atmosphere where our residents thrive. #LangdaleCareHomes #WordOfTheDay #WeCare #PersonalisedCare #langdalecarehomesuk #WeCare #NursingHome #EverydayIsDifferent #CareGivers #DementiaCare #carehomesuk #ResidentialCareHome #DementiaFriendly #carehomeactivities #carehomeactivitiesmatter #socialcaresuccess #KeepingResidentsActive #socialengagement #CelebrationAtLangdale #CommunitySpirit #WellBeingMatters

This National Carers Week, we’re shining a light on the incredible individuals who dedicate themselves to caring for their loved ones. Kayleen, a carer who has found support at Anam Cara, shared her experiences with us. From navigating the challenges of caregiving to finding moments of joy and connection, her story is a testament to the strength and resilience that defines so many carers. Here’s what Kayleen had to say about her journey. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡-𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙚? I’ve found coming to the carers support group at Anam Cara to be the most valuable for my well-being as others in a caring role really understand the role we are navigating. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙧? It’s a wide-reaching role when you care for someone with dementia. You care for their physical and emotional needs and it needs all your powers of sensitivity, intuition, logic and your “imagination” to make up the short fall! 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚? Finding Anam Cara has been wonderful as we both feel understood and supported by others who understand and care. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜? Reading and listening to music allows me to be in the moment and focus on the now. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜? Try not to get preoccupied and overwhelmed by the future – live in the present as much as possible. Do your best to enjoy each day. Try and maintain the attitude that you make a difference for the one you love and care for. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙨? Hugs – nothing like a healing hug to release stress! And food – going out for a meal (and wine!) 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚? That I can say without hesitation I’m a good person. Throughout life’s journey I often undervalued my role as a cater for our family – it was just what you did – but not anymore! #nationalcarersweek #palliativecare
