【GIES 2024】 The Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES 2024) concluded successfully on Sunday after a fantastic four-day run! It was a pleasure connecting with so many industry professionals and sharing our latest advancements in gerontech. We were delighted to welcome Mr. CHUA Hoi Wai, Chief Executive of HKCSS, and Professor Sophia CHAN Siu Chee, from the School of Nursing at the University of Hong Kong, to our booth to learn about our latest applications. This year, the Welfare Council showcased two innovative applications: "Master Knees 2" and "NeighbourNet". Master Knees 2 integrates AI, gamification, and therapy, featuring a new online competitive mode that enhances engagement and motivation during rehabilitation. NeighbourNet simplifies digital access for seniors with its one-click login feature, enabling them to seamlessly utilise essential platforms like "GCS" and "HCS" to stay informed, participate in activities, and connect with loved ones. We believe that innovative technology can significantly improve the lives of seniors. We are committed to developing more gerontech products and services to empower and enrich the lives of our elderly community.

Elderly care combined with gamification creates a beautiful recipe for joy, movement, and improved well-being. Imagine a rehabilitation unit where therapy isn’t just about routine exercises but about fun, engaging activities that bring out smiles and laughter. Gamification transforms the way we approach elderly care by adding playfulness and creativity to everyday therapy. This method uses game elements—like challenges, rewards, and interaction—to motivate seniors to move, connect, and stay active, even when traditional methods may not appeal to them. The impact goes beyond just physical improvement; it enhances mental health, boosts confidence, and strengthens social bonds. Inspired by the concept of Gamification 1.0, which is widely used in education to make learning exciting, this approach shifts the focus to maximizing enjoyment and capturing interest. When seniors are inspired by activities they truly enjoy, they’re more likely to stay consistent and engaged, turning therapy into something they look forward to rather than avoid. Joël has taken this idea to a whole new level with his innovative creations designed to make inactive people active again. His playbox is a powerful yet simple tool built on the principles of active play, making movement as easy as grab, scan, and play. These activities don’t require complicated setups or overwhelming instructions—just quick, joyful bursts of movement that are fun and beneficial. This approach is particularly impactful for seniors who may struggle with traditional forms of exercise or feel isolated. Through games and lighthearted challenges, they rediscover mobility, build strength, and feel part of a community. The simplicity of these tools makes it easy for caregivers to integrate them into daily routines, turning every moment into an opportunity for fun and growth. This creative therapy method is changing lives, proving that with the right tools and mindset, elderly care can be more than just care—it can be a celebration of life, movement, and joy. Ever thought about how turning therapy into a game could revolutionize elderly care? It turns out that adding a bit of fun and playfulness to rehabilitation can make quite a difference - after all, movement is medicine! 🏃♀️ In some rehabilitation centers, there's a fresh approach that's making waves: integrating gamification into therapy to enhance the lives of residents. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭? Gamification means applying game-like elements - such as points, levels, challenges, and rewards - to activities that aren't games. The idea is to boost motivation and engagement by making tasks more interactive and enjoyable. In therapy and education, this could involve transforming exercises into fun activities that encourage participation. For example, residents might earn points for completing certain movements or unlock new levels as they progress, making the rehabilitation process more engaging. Developed by Joël Kruisselbrink is bringing this concept to life. It's helping residents improve their mobility and mental health while giving healthcare workers a more enjoyable way to deliver therapy. It's a win-win situation! 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭? - Increased Motivation: When therapy is enjoyable, residents are more likely to participate enthusiastically. - Better Outcomes: Higher engagement can lead to significant improvements in both physical and mental health. - Positive Environment: A fun and interactive atmosphere benefits everyone involved, from residents to caregivers. Would you be interested in seeing gamification applied more widely in healthcare settings? #innovation #technology #future #management #startups
