As December begins, how are you prioritising your wellbeing this season? 🎄💙 December marks the start of a busy season for many, both at work and in our personal lives. While it’s a time of celebration, it can also bring stress and pressure. In the UK, more than 1 in 4 workers report feeling overwhelmed by work demands, and mental health struggles increase as the year draws to a close. Let’s approach this month with compassion—for ourselves and those around us. Here are some small ways we can make a difference: ✨ Check in with colleagues and loved ones—sometimes a simple "How are you?" goes a long way. ✨ Encourage breaks and downtime in the workplace, especially during end-of-year deadlines. ✨ Take time for your own wellbeing, whether through rest, reflection, or connecting with others. The festive season is about more than productivity or perfection—it’s about connection, kindness, and balance. How will you support your wellbeing or your team’s this December? #WellbeingAtWork #CompassionateLeadership #MentalHealthMatters #DecemberWellbeing

How will you prioritise your wellbeing? I often find women, especially, who find the festive season hard as they rush around trying to make everything perfect which in turn can affect our space at work. This can happen to men as well of course? Reach out to those who appear more stressed or anxious than normal. Relax and reflect on what time you have without splitting yourself into too many bits and juggling too many things. Do no feel pressurised to do things, just because others do it that way. Finally enjoy the season how you wish to enjoy it! #selfcare #restandreflection #wellbeing

If an employee or customer broke down crying in your workplace, would you know what to do? Or where to refer them? As the festive season approaches, many of us face the challenge of balancing work, personal commitments, and the pressures often associated with this time of year. For some, it’s a fun nostalgic period, but for others, it can bring heightened stress or loneliness—especially for those managing mental health challenges, difficult relationships, money issues or alcohol. It becomes harder for us - or our family members to turn down that tipple and it can have a ricochet impact on work. At Insight and Training, we understand that mental health awareness isn’t just about recognising signs of stress—it’s about creating an environment where people feel safe to express themselves, even if they don’t feel festive or full of joy. It is also supporting those around them to know what to do, how to respond and how to take care of themselves. Prevention and ongoing awareness, is better than crisis management! Reducing the stigma around mental health begins with understanding that it’s okay to feel differently, and that acknowledging these feelings is a sign of strength, not weakness. Supporting mental health at work means: -Encouraging open conversations about stress and emotional well-being. -Equipping managers and teams with skills to respond to mental health challenges. -Promoting awareness in companies of the evidence based holistic strategies and free community and charity organisations that can support an employees, in a time when it can be particularly difficult to access GP appointments. -Promoting small, meaningful actions that help individuals find balance during busy or difficult periods. and ultimately - preventing absenteeism, low morale and staff being unable to give 100% in work! Insight and Training can help you bring a 360 view of your employees, and your customers, which will make your team resilience proof. Staff bring their best when they feel supported. #MentalHealthAwareness #WorkplaceWellbeing #ReduceStigma #InsightAndTraining

In recent years, many of the conversations with our people became about looking after themselves. I love that we have learned to be more human and acknowledge that stress is a big contributor to our happiness and well-being. We were helping our people deal with significant change by teaching them to reach out. We were being more conscious of being kinder to ourselves. To drinking less grog and more water. Well, we tried. This was good and helpful. But it’s no longer enough. We are still in overwhelm. The thing is, the rough period the world went through - should just be a period. The same for wellbeing programs. They are awesome – but not the solution. If burnout was the result of insufficient self-care then this is a good solution. But I’m not seeing that as the problem. I’m not saying self-care is not good. It is essential all the time. It is just not the solution to burnout. #workplaceculture #culture #burnout #workloadmanagement #selfcare
