The Future of Endometrial Cancer Screening: CISENDO® and DNA Methylation Analysis Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecological malignancy. Early detection is crucial for improving patient outcomes. CISENDO® highlights the exciting potential of DNA methylation analysis, particularly of the CDO1 and CELF4 genes, for non-invasive screening and detection of endometrial cancer and precancerous lesions. **Key Findings and Implications:** * **Non-invasive Diagnosis:** This approach offers a promising alternative to traditional biopsies, using cervical exfoliated cells for analysis. * **High Accuracy:** Methylation testing of CDO1 and CELF4 demonstrates strong potential for accurate detection, especially when combined with existing methods like TVUS and CA125. * **Risk Stratification:** Identifying high-risk patients (e.g., postmenopausal women with abnormal bleeding) allows for prioritized evaluation and potentially avoids unnecessary procedures. * **Regional Specificity:** DNA methylation patterns may pinpoint specific areas of concern in the uterine cavity, reducing the need for invasive tissue sampling. * **Broad Applicability:** Analysis works across ethnicities, highlighting its value for widespread use. * **Personalized Medicine:** Combined with molecular subtyping, methylation analysis can offer valuable insights for disease classification, prognosis, and treatment tailoring. **Overall, DNA methylation analysis holds immense promise for the early detection and management of endometrial cancer, potentially improving patient outcomes and reducing unnecessary procedures.** #endometrialcancer #DNAmethylation #CISENDO #womenshealth #earlydetection #personalizedmedicine **Let's discuss the future of endometrial cancer screening in the comments!**
Black women are more likely to be diagnosed with rare, aggressive types of #UterineCancer and tend to be diagnosed at a later stage, when the cancer is more advanced and harder to treat. Excellent post about overdiagnosis, one of the hidden risks of cancer screening, from my colleague Dr. Sarah Coles at Those Nerdy Girls. This is NOT the same thing as a false positive, which is when you get told you may have cancer, but further testing reveals that you don't. Overdiagnosis is when we find a real tumour (cancer), but this tumour wouldn't have caused problems if we left it alone. Unfortunately, doctors can't perfectly predict which tumours can be safely left untreated, so we tend to treat them all. Thus, overdiagnosis leads to overtreatment. We know that overdiagnosis is a major issue for many cancers (especially prostate and breast) when cancer screening programs save modest numbers of lives despite detecting many more early-stage cancers. This doesn't mean we shouldn't get screened, but it does mean that the cost-benefit of screening isn't as simple as it may appear (not every cancer "caught" is a win). It also means that we need to keep investing in early detection research so that we can identify which cases need treatment and which can be safely left alone. #earlydetection #cancerearlydetection #cancerscreening #cancerresearch

Want to help advance cancer research? Fewer teens with cancer are involved in clinical trials, and this could be affecting how quickly we find better treatments for young people. The good news? Researchers are looking at ways to make trials more accessible for everyone. Check out this study to learn more about the challenges and what we can do to break down barriers! https://lnkd.in/grMyxdzJ #TAPintoCancerControl #gwccTAP #CancerResearch #ClinicalResearch #ClinicalTrials
