Howdy, y'all! This weekend, Hope Walks was honored to participate in the BUILD at Texas A&M University Dedication ceremony and gala. A huge thanks to Lauryn, Ian, Kody and the entire leadership team for your fantastic work to build the Hope Walks medical container that will be headed to Kilifi County Hospital in Kenya next year. The clinic is amazing! Thank you to the TAMU community for your hard work on this and Medical Bridges for making this happen. It was an honor to meet Gary and Sheila Yepsen, parents of LCpl Luke Yepsen, to whom the container is dedicated for his life and service. Because of you all, children with clubfoot will be running free from a life of disability. #containerclinic #kenya #healingandhope #runfree2030 #clubfootistreatable

In the heart of Mangeh Section at Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District, Sierra Leone, lies a treasure trove of resilience, hope, and untapped potential - the children of our future. This photo, taken back in 2018, captures a moment that continues to shape my purpose and fuel my passion for advocacy. In the midst of our outreach efforts to uplift the vulnerable and underprivileged, I met a shy little girl who stole a piece of my heart. Her timid demeanor spoke volumes, but it was her hesitant smile that moved me most. In that instant, I knew my role wasn't just to provide aid, but to offer love, acceptance, and a sense of belonging. My journey in advocating for children, especially girls often sidelined by society, started long before this snapshot. It's a journey marked by countless encounters, each leaving an indelible mark on my soul. Whenever I revisit this photo, it's like reliving that moment all over again. It reminds me why I do what I do - to be a voice for the voiceless, a beacon of hope for those in need. With every prayer, I don't just seek strength and wisdom, but also the humility to understand the magnitude of my calling. May this image serve as a gentle nudge to us all - a reminder of the transforming power of love and empathy. Let's walk hand in hand, lighting up lives and paving the way for a future where every child knows they're valued and cherished. #ChildAdvocacy #Compassion #CommunityOutreach

Yes, ACAs are not ideal. Yes, we want to see an end to children and young people residing in ACAs, but where's the alternate planning? Where are the carers needed to fill the void. Parallel to this decision should be an urgent focus on family connections for children in care, finding appropriate long term stable care options for children, building on support for family and Kinship carers and building the carer pool. Not removing a bandaid solution and leaving agencies with nothing. Will definitely be watching this space! #aca #nswgovernment #childprotection #fostercare #kinshipcare #childrenfirst https://lnkd.in/gNJseAWc

Karl, your recent reflections on the “Proper Walk” for the Makindu Children’s Center are not just a testament to your dedication but also a powerful reminder of the impact that compassion and commitment can have on communities. Your journey with your daughter Katy to Kenya and the profound insights you shared about grace, hope, and gratitude have left a lasting impression on many of us. Your unwavering dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable children and the collaborative efforts of your team have been truly remarkable. The Makindu Children's Center is a beacon of hope, and it’s clear that your leadership and vision have played a significant role in fostering a community where these children can thrive. The way you inspire others to see beyond their circumstances and elevate their spirit is truly admirable. Correct, not all children living in orphanages are orphans. Children living in orphanages can come from various backgrounds, one of which is "poverty". Indonesia also has a significant number of orphans. According to the integrated social welfare data from 2019, there are 106,406 children living in 4,800 orphanages or child welfare institutions. However, many of these children still face the harsh reality of significant social and economic disparities compared to other children. This issue, which remains a taboo subject, is one of the efforts of the Yayasan Westerlaken Alliance Indonesia advocating for child welfare in accordance with the Ministry of Social Affairs regulations through the Stop Orphanages Campaign program. The hope with the stop orphanages campaign is to increase public awareness about the isssue faced by children in orphanages and Influence government policies to support more sustainable and humane solutions for child care.👀

By coming forward to support orphaned children, we not only change their lives but also contribute to building a more compassionate and inclusive society. Imagine being a child without the comforting presence of a family. Orphaned children often find themselves in unstable and insecure situations, lacking the love, guidance, and stability that every child deserves. By stepping forward to support these children, whether through adoption, fostering, or providing financial assistance to orphanages, we offer them a sense of security and belonging that is crucial for their emotional and psychological well-being.When we extend a helping hand to orphaned children, we not only transform their lives but also cultivate empathy and compassion within ourselves and our communities. My Article published in Newspaper on the related issue. #orphan #children #families #psychologicalgrowth #communities #helpinghand #emotionaltouch #orphanhomes #NGO

Janet Daby MP our new children’s minister appears to have no key responsibility for children’s residential care? Obviously she will have. But whilst I am confident it will come under her remit, it’s sad and frustrating (ultimately for children) that, yet again, children’s residential care is a hidden and invisible service. Why? Children in our care system have diverse needs and wishes. For some, kinship will be preferred. For many fostering is the best type of care for them. For others a residential option will be most effective in meeting their needs (that's needs not behaviours). For one part of the sector to work well, other parts of the sector must be effective too. Services are interdependent and what happens in one area impacts another. Understanding purpose and recognising the equal value of ALL services is essential. Both for achieving outcomes for children and to spend the public purse wisely. In my personal view.
