The PR Habitat just hit the national stage! Our founder, Damaryan Benton, was interviewed following his session, “Discussion: How are young people reimagining civic solutions?” The topic? Entry points to media and civic literacy. In front of a room full of changemakers, he shared how The PR Habitat is redefining the way young professionals access, interpret, and contribute to media, and how that impacts civic engagement. What started as a digital community has now grown into a movement, amplifying the voices of Gen Z in PR and beyond. The National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC) was a humbling reminder of why we started this journey. To empower the next generation with the tools and knowledge to lead. Thank you to the Institute for Citizens & Scholars who made this possible. The Hab is just getting started! Catch some behind-the-scenes footage of his interview 👇

Dec 6 - Why GDG Matters Ever wonder what it takes to build a community from scratch that lasts for years? Five years of (co-)organizing GDG 3City have taught me so much about building a community—from how to create an inclusive space to how to encourage people to come and make them want to stay. It's not always easy, but the reward is huge. Even though this is a volunteer effort, I've gained so much from it! Valuable connections, organizational skills, and even better public speaking—since I’m usually the host for our events. Creating a community where people feel like they belong has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey. Would you like to try building a community like this? Find your nearest #GDG and join, or maybe even start your own! 🌱

Communities and audiences across the state will enjoy the exceptional calibre of homegrown creative talent with 51 NSW organisations funded to deliver diverse arts and cultural programming in the coming year thanks to the Annual Organisation Funding round, delivered as part of Create NSW’s Arts and Cultural Funding Program (ACFP). Among the diverse recipients was Western Sydney-based We Are Studios Arts and Disability Inc. who received funding to deliver a program of accessible professional skills development workshops in Blacktown for emerging artists with disability. Others include a First Nations program in the Riverina for youth to express themselves through dance and cultural connection; a multi-sensory art and music festival takeover of White Bay Power Station showcasing ambitious new works by NSW artists; and an annual artistic program including a Mardi Gras exhibition that provides emerging curator career-development opportunities. This transitional round of annual organisational funding bridges the gap as the program transitions to the new, simpler, fairer, faster Arts and Cultural Funding Program with longer-term Multi-year funding programs. Closing the Gap | Close the Gap Day serves as a poignant reminder of both the strides made in bettering the lives of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the distance yet to be travelled for true societal health and equity. Health advancements have been propelled by the leadership of those directly impacted, paving the way for governments, businesses, and society at large to foster conditions conducive to the prosperity of First Peoples. Young Guns, a proud Aboriginal business, underscores the imperative of bridging the gaps between Indigenous Australians and the broader population. The day underscores the need for extensive efforts and unified action from all Australians to acknowledge, respect, and cultivate a more equitable environment for the original custodians of this land. Young Guns is dedicated to upholding the duties entrusted by our ancestors, families, and communities, fostering learning, education, and tailored strategies to nurture thriving communities and unlock the full potential of individuals. We implore our partners, team members, and communities to set lofty standards and strive relentlessly, and each contributes to creating positive change.
