Getting your geese in a row...some common messages emerging from different EU project research looking at business and finance approaches to biodiversity and nature: 1. Size matters. So does sector and location. Surveys showed a difference in levels of awareness and take up of approaches such as natural capital accounting, TNFD, CSD etc. Big companies were more engaged than small companies who were more concerned with climate change impacts. Higher awareness was noted in North-West Europe than in Southern snd Eastern countries. 2. Confusion and complexity hindering take up. Companies were looking for a one-size fits all solution like for GHG emissions. The lack of a standardised approach and the complexity of metrics is a challenge - even though larger companies understood the need for context specific measurement. 3. More research needed on sector specific opportunities from nature-positive transition. While risks, impacts and dependencies are becoming increasingly evident, the opportunities from being an early-adopter are not clear. More evidence and sector specific case studies are needed to inspire the way. These and many other findings were presented in a great session expertly moderated by Martine Van Weelden of Capitals Coalition involving multiple EU projects involved in #transformativechange including A-Track CircHive GoNaturePositive!
