This week is Personalised Care Week 🙌 But what is personalised care? And what does it mean to us an organisation? "Personalised care represents a major practical change to the NHS and is a key part of the NHS Long Term Plan. It is a whole system approach that enables a variety of services across the health, social care, public health and community spectrum to be integrated around the individual in order to deliver better outcomes and experiences." - Personalised Care Institute Text reads: Personalised care encompasses so much of what it is to be human to me. Learning more about the skillset of personalised care has changed how I turn up to work. I no longer hold a dynamic of ‘expert’ and ‘patient,’ but I am able to hold a sense of sharing the journey, exploring each other’s opinions, understanding the life of the person and how the person’s beliefs, ideas and values compare to mine. I love the sense of magic that is created within the interpersonal space, and value seeing the person and them seeing me. The NHS has long championed the idea of moving care out of hospitals and into patients' homes and the community to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce costs. However, despite well-established commitments and policy statements, the balance in care delivery has yet to be effectively changed. So how can we shift the balance, both nationally and locally? In this article, John Copps and Matt Carter argue for this transformative change to take place, it is essential for primary care, community services, and local authorities to form strong alliances and work collaboratively. 🏥 UK Government Launches Groundbreaking Initiative To Transform NHS: A 10-Year Vision For Community-Based, Digital And Preventative Healthcare 🏥 The UK government has launched the most extensive national conversation about the NHS since its creation, inviting the public, NHS staff and health experts to contribute their ideas on shaping its future. Through an online platform - change.nhs.UK - available until early 2025, participants can share their views on what needs improvement and how to address current challenges. This feedback will be crucial in shaping the government’s 10-Year Health Plan, set to be published in spring 2025. The plan will centre on three major shifts in healthcare: moving care from hospitals to communities, transitioning from analogue to digital systems, and shifting the focus from treating illness to preventing it. Productivity in the NHS has absolutely been decimated over the last 6 years. Despite having far more head count, the NHS is back to 2018 levels of performance in terms of productivity, which is reflecting in more immediate measures such as the 8 million patients on wait lists and sadly it will also impact measures which will take a bit more time to reveal themselves like patient outcomes. NHS England is going to be paying McKinsey & Company £ millions to analyse why. So I thought I would offer up that analysis for free. The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) has revealed it will develop a shared digital platform to allow up-to-date medical information to be shared between NHS and care staff. This is really good news The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP - fantastic. A tad late, but I have always heard that better later than EVER. We must learn from our previous experiences ( mistakes ) in order for the NHS to progress and have a future, and ultimately deliver quality care. > Lack of decisiveness > Blurred Vision and confused strategy > Wall ( big barriers ) facing start up and industry innovators > Encourage Innovation & Risk Taking > Incentivize a Culture that implements change > Erradicate Leadership that won't serve the primary Purpose of the Organization > Fast to decide, ACT and Implement ( time for ACTION ) ( unfortunately for one reason or another the last 10 years - we have seen very little action ).....need inspiration ?
