With a reasonably large sample size of 3228 participants, this study sheds light on both shared characteristics and significant differences between several categories of long-distance runners. Cultural specifics notwithstanding, the findings of the study, along with the avenues for further exploration it opens up, may prove essential in understanding the motivation behind engaging in endurance sports. This, in turn, might allow researchers to develop ways to employ motivation mechanisms as tools for interventions aimed at enhancing both physical and mental well-being and fostering long-term resilience. https://lnkd.in/dUHuW-in

Reflecting on a profound conversation with Mister Enkhamgalan Dorjsuren, I’m compelled to share our exchange that not only touched on the essence of humanity but also planted the seeds for a new chapter in the world of Padel, specifically in Mongolia. "Drink water and respect its source," he urged. This simple act is a reminder to appreciate the fundamental elements that sustain us. "We have all forgotten what it means to be truly human," Enkh-Amgalan observed. In a system driven mad by its own complexities, he proposes a return to the natural order, one where kinship and family reign supreme. "We are not defined by gender, although we possess it. We must recognize that fear is but a fleeting thought," he continued, articulating a vision of existence where labels and constraints are shed in favor of a more liberated state of being. He sees us all as Earthlings, integral parts of the living world, with life being the symphony of experiences, and death, merely the cessation of these melodies. Interestingly, Enkh-Amgalan pointed out a fun fact: Padel is played within enclosures that resemble cages. Yet, his vision for Padel in Mongolia is anything but confined. He imagines a holistic approach to the sport, one that aligns with the rhythms of nature, embodying the balance and harmony we often seek. Through this exchange, we touched on the philosophy of life, the interconnectedness of all beings, and the simple truths that bind us. With his insight and our shared ambitions, we stand on the cusp of introducing Padel to Mongolia—not just as a sport but as a conduit for the values we cherish. As we embark on this endeavor, I am excited to share our vision with my network on LinkedIn. Here's to a new era in Padel, one that celebrates our natural roots and fosters a community that is both inclusive and respectful of the environment—a testament to the essence of the great Mongolian spirit. #Humanity #Nature #Padel #Innovation #CommunityBuilding #MATCHi #TPCMatchpoint #Mongolia #Sportsmanship #EnvironmentalRespect #BraekiePadelSolutions

In a world often focused on winning at all costs, this story of true integrity stands out. During the Burlada Cross Country race in Spain on December 2, 2012, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was leading the race when he mistakenly stopped short of the finish line, thinking he had already crossed it. Spanish runner Iván Fernández, who was right behind Mutai, saw what had happened. Instead of seizing the opportunity to take first place, Iván chose to do something extraordinary. He shouted at Mutai to keep going, but Mutai didn’t understand Spanish. Realizing this, Iván gently guided Mutai to the finish line, ensuring he secured the victory he rightfully earned. When asked why he didn’t take advantage of the situation, Iván replied, “He was going to win. The race was his.” He added, “What would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor in that medal?” Iván Fernández’s actions remind us that true victory isn’t just about crossing the finish line first. It’s about integrity, respect, and helping others to achieve their best. This story teaches us that the values we pass on—honesty, ethics, and compassion—are far more important than the accolades we might gain. As the world turns its attention to the Olympics and sports are a hot topic, let’s remember and share stories like these that highlight the essence of true character. This isn’t just about sportsmanship; it’s about the values that define us as human beings. Let’s inspire each other to build a community where we push and help each other to succeed. Because in the end, true winning is about lifting others up. #Olympics #Compassion #Integrity #Inspiration #Values #Running #Kindness #TrueCharacter

This 10 min video is well worth your time. Norway with only 5 million pop has got it right - through a ‘joy of sport’ strategy which has a foundational principle - all children have a ‘right’ to sport. Norway also benefits from one (1) umbrella sports organization (representing a successful merger of the Confederation of Sports (NIF), the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committees, Deaf Sports Committee & the Special Olympics Committee) which is arms length to government; the nation has far fewer national sports governing bodies (NGB) than most nations at only 55 (with many sports governed by the same NGB) and sport is largely funded by lottery. A bevy of best practises to learn from.

Inspiring Acts of Sportsmanship: A Lesson for Us All In a memorable display of integrity and sportsmanship, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line during a cross-country race in Burlada, Navarre, on December 2, 2012, when he mistakenly stopped, thinking he had completed the race. Spanish runner Ivan Fernandez, who was right behind him, realized what was happening. Instead of taking advantage of the situation, Fernandez started shouting at Mutai to continue running. When language barriers prevented understanding, Fernandez pushed Mutai forward, ensuring he crossed the finish line first. When asked why he did this, Fernandez responded, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.” He emphasized that Mutai was the rightful winner and that taking advantage of the confusion would not have been a true victory. This story reminds us that true success isn’t just about winning—it’s about integrity, respect, and helping others. These are the values that we should pass on to future generations. Let’s embody these principles in our professional lives. Let’s uplift each other, celebrate rightful achievements, and strive for a community where everyone’s success is honored. Because in the end, honesty and ethics are the true victories. #Sportsmanship #Integrity #Leadership #Values #Inspiration #fyp #risebyliftingothers

Today was the Masterclass "Temptations to Move" at the Sports + Vitality Hub #Breda, as part of the European Sports and Wellbeing Alliance for Municipalities (#ESWAM). Belgian, Danish, Dutch, English, French and Luxembourg representatives exchanged their knowledge and thoughts how to activate their cities and spaces. It was a real masterclass with Benjamin Billet representing the EUROPEAN NETWORK OF OUTDOOR SPORTS interacting with the delegates on the accessibility of nature and its function to active and engage citizens. Ola Mattsson from the Lokale og Anlægsfonden / The Danish Foundation for Culture and Sports Facilities always brings something new to the table. We all could see the little dot and its final impact. I had the honour to kick it off with a story on the life of a tabletennis table and redefining the future of sports as the world has the power to change sport. Just enjoy the life of a tabletennis table.........................
