📢 A recent report from the Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research highlights systemic and funding barriers that limit access to allied health services in aged care. The report recommends amending the Quality of Care Principles to ensure equitable access, consolidating allied health funding under the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC), and implementing quantifiable minimum service requirements. The report calls for greater investment in multidisciplinary practices, improved data collection, and transparent reporting to enhance the restorative and wellbeing care provided in residential aged care facilities. 🔗 Read more https://lnkd.in/g-usznTS #agedcare #alliedhealth #enhancewellbeing #makeadifference #connectionswithimpact James Wood Stephanie Ynfante Jennifer Dowd Ross Pearle Lorraine Morrison, MA (Hons) Dimitri Laboudeuse

The article calls for the federal government to amend the Quality of Care Principals to support equal access to allied health services. Since I've been supporting allied health professionals across Australia for the last 12 months, it's clearly evident the positive outcomes that allied health professionals can have across the population but particularly so in the aged care population. #alliedhealthprofessionals #agedcare #connectionswithimpact

Off to a great start! MBGH Board Chair and GE HealthCare's Pamela Hannon welcomes a full house. Our President & CEO Cheryl Larson tells attendees to buckle up for the discussions and networks in store for the next two days! Opening keynote, Advisory Board's Bradford "Ford" Koles, Jr., sets the stage on critical role employers must play to impact health care ... We are seeing improvements in the health care system post pandemic. Almost everything is getting better, not worse, but we still face challenges. The patients are not alright. There’s a radical change in our young workforce -- 56% of young adults 18-26 years have a mental health issue that warrants clinical intervention and 73% of adults report today’s health care is not meeting their needs. If we don’t fix these issues, it will be fixed for us. #employers #mbghac #employersdrivingchange #hr #healthbenefits

Diversity within the NHS is crucial, as it is the foundation of the entire system. There would not be an NHS without a workforce of staff from the global majority. Language plays a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of this issue. Racism in the UK streets is not isolated; it permeates the health and social care sector and its related entities. It is imperative to recognise and address these systemic challenges. Discussing how racism impacts NHS staff and impedes their progression to Very Senior Management is essential. Issues like racism, vexatious referrals, microaggressions, and differential treatment highlight the need for action within this compassionate sector. As leaders, we must take proactive steps to ensure a safe and inclusive work environment. If you hold a senior leadership position at the NHS, debriefing staff, providing work-from-home options, compassionate leave, and conducting risk assessments are crucial steps. Acknowledging and addressing racism within the NHS is paramount. Offering resources for anti-racism reflection and practical support, such as free shuttle buses or taxis, can make a tangible difference. Let's work together to foster a healthcare culture of equity and respect. #OurNHSPeople #NHS #Antiracism #Inclusion #HealthcareEquality #Leadership #Management

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS's investment in the interstate licensing compacts benefits behavioral health providers, including social workers, allowing them to practice across state lines more easily. The funding includes $750,000 to the ASWB - Association of Social Work Boards, marking HRSA's first investment in the Social Work Compact. Through interstate compacts, providers can be more mobile and expand their job opportunities while increasing the availability of qualified professionals where mental health and psychiatric care services are often scarce. 💡 The Social Work Compact initiative supports telehealth services and increases access to behavioral health care. Effective in 12 states, starting with Missouri, the compact enhances workforce mobility to address mental health, opioid crises, and maternal depression in underserved and rural areas. Additionally, these compacts support the growth of telehealth services, creating more pathways for patients to receive timely care.
