Last week I had a fantastic and inspiring day at the Housemark #Data and #Analytics Conference, where I had the opportunity to speak about something close to my heart—how a focused #datastrategy and #operatingmodel can drive real value in social housing. Both sessions were fully stocked and loads of fantastic questions from the attendees! I've seen first-hand how the sector is regulated and with measures now being introduced like the Tenant Satisfaction Measures, demand both transparency and accountability, many housing associations are grappling with data spread across silos. This fragmentation often makes it hard to truly understand tenant needs or to respond quickly and effectively. I am lucky I have worked in the sector previously and to give an alternative perspective and help address some of these challenges, I shared my data and #AI strategy framework, an approach tailored to support housing associations in accelerating their data initiatives. The sector needs more than just compliance reporting; it needs a strategic, value-driven approach that turns data into a tool for proactive change. My message was this: by aligning data initiatives with a strong operating model, it can create a foundation where insights don’t just inform decisions, they can also enable predictive action. This is where the power of a value driven approach lies. Imagine being able to anticipate tenant needs, streamline maintenance processes, and tailor services to improve tenant satisfaction. That’s the potential that can be unlocked when the sector integrates the right strategy and framework. A huge thanks to Monika Edwards, Rob Griffiths 🇬🇧 and the entire Housemark team for organising such a thought-provoking event. Good to meet Leon Gordon, thank you to the brilliant chair for both my sessions Amanda Leonard, good to meet Elliot Collins over dinner and catch-up with Susan Walsh, Jonathan Cox, Colin Sales and many others! There’s a real sense of momentum, and I look forward to continuing these conversations and helping housing associations make tangible progress. #socialhousing
Gutted I missed housemark this year! 😫 its one of my favorite events of the year and it sounded like another brilliant one! The Housing sector has always struggled with getting to grips with data and innovation, like sticking to 30 in a 60! And some of us data folk getting road rage 😤 but at the route of it all, i think, has been a never ending culture of fear. It presents itself in different ways in each place, but its always fear holding us back.
It was so great to catch up, thanks for the therapy session!
It was great to get the chance to present with you Samir Sharma. Truly inspiring.
It was great to meet you too Samir and looking forward to scheduling a catch up for a coffee soon!
How much was that bloody truffle again?
Great to connect with you Samir and let keep the conversation flowing! #dataforgood

2wThere are a few prop-tech companies here in the States that provide much of what you're speaking about—anticipating tenant needs, streamlining maintenance processes, and tailoring services to improve tenant satisfaction. They are great for management companies, which receive a host of insights through the app their residents use. But these apps are even better for tenants, who become privy not only to improved customer service but also to a host of other benefits. Data being put to good use for regular people. What a concept!
