Ever wondered what it takes to be recognised as Number 1 in the Great places to work rankings? Last week I got the chance to listen to Mike Parra and Michael C. Bush at the World Employer Branding Day in Amsterdam! Mike Parra the CEO Europe for DHL Express explained how he’s been involved in the transition of DHL Express from number 8 in 2017 to number 1 for the last 4 years on the Great Place to Work Index. It was great to hear what they do for their employees to make it an outstanding place to work. A few key insights I’ve taken away from the talk… DHL express Introduced:- 🌟Rising Stars Programme 📈Mid Year Reviews for everyone 🗣️Understanding that “feedback is a gift” 🧘♀️Are you ok? Are you actually ok?” Programme 💡AID framework (action / impact / do) What is the action that happened, what was the impact it had on me, and what do we do to do things differently? 🙌🏼 Making a great team better” programme, which strengthens leadership skills. - How does a leadership team create trust? - How does a leadership team show vulnerability - SOPs for management - Mining for conflict 👩🏼💼Supervisory academy - 18 to 24 month program for new managers 👀👂Importance of visible leadership and accessibility and the ability to listen with authenticity Such an inspiring talk, and so much to takeaway to help our clients put into practice! My thoughts 💭… Employer branding is absolutely key for a business to retain talent and attract talent… Not just for big businesses but also for businesses who are shaping out their structures for growth. Without good people, your business won’t be a success, so keep hold of the good ones and attract the best talent possible by creating an EVP with a difference! What do you think makes a company a great place to work? 💭🤔 #employerbranding #greatplacetowork #EVP #employeewellbeing

You know what’s the scariest thing about hosting an in-person event? Not having enough turnouts 😱 We’re being ambitious with our KL event, focusing on senior HR professionals and choosing a large space for over 50 attendees. Here are a few things I find helpful to minimize dropouts: 1. Offer something they can’t miss: Curate high-quality speakers and content that are both relevant and exciting. 2. Build excitement: Let your guests know they’ll be sharing the room with other top industry leaders. Knowing they’re in good company creates a sense of exclusivity and value. 3. Over-invite: We over-invite by 20-30% of our expected headcount to ensure the room is full. 4. Send reminders: Keep the momentum going with reminders a week and a day before the event. One thing I haven’t tried yet is charging a nominal door fee 🤔 Does it work? Too low, and people might not care; too high, and it could discourage sign-ups. Have you tried this? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Our first KL event is just one week away on October 9! We’ve got everything covered, and HR leaders from AirAsia, Axiata, and Accenture have already RSVP-ed 😉 There are just a couple more seats left, sign up here: https://lu.ma/vklsc8dj Super excited to meet everyone - see you there!

𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 Joining a new company is always exciting, bringing up many "What ifs" in our minds. We think about integration, new tasks, building relationships, and much more. It's reassuring to know that a prospective employer is already considering these aspects even before you come on board. A helpful way to evaluate whether a company is progressing toward becoming a best workplace is to see if it participates in relevant awards. Such participation allows companies to benchmark their HR policies against industry best practices, identify areas for improvement, strengthen market presence by attracting and retaining top talent, and to show their commitment to employee well-being, a supportive work environment, and career growth opportunities. At ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, our active participation in various awards reflects our commitment to creating an exceptional work environment. Through these awards, we engage with and exchange best practices with other companies, reinforcing our dedication to a positive workplace culture across all regions. Talent Magazine: Q and A with Usman Ali Jamil, Regional Culture and Change Manager, EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa), Akzonobel, Dubai Q: Could you share your personal journey with us? Born in the vibrant multicultural environment of the United Arab Emirates and later raised in the socially rich landscape of Faisalabad, Pakistan, my personal journey has been a tapestry of diverse experiences and invaluable lessons. This naturally instilled in me a profound sense of adaptability and resilience. Embracing the 360-degree change in lifestyle at different moments served as a catalyst for my journey towards self-reliance and litheness in navigating life's twists and turns. My early educational journey began in public schools and government colleges, where my professional pursuit started to shape from my undergraduate studies specialized in Computer Sciences. After honing my skills in programming and web development at a local software house, I embarked on a new chapter by pursuing an MBA. Venturing into the world of HR, I embraced every opportunity to learn and grow, immersing myself in diverse industries and serving as a mentee to seasoned professionals. Through these experiences, I cultivated a deep understanding of strategic HR business partnering, leadership development, talent management, business performance enhancement, and being a bridge to people and corporate. I thrive on challenges, viewing them as opportunities to inspire and make a meaningful impact in every endeavor I undertake. Q: Explain the current work you do and the impact of your work? Responsible for EMEA region as Culture and Change Manager in a global role, I partner with leaders and teams to support their journey to find their own strength and team’s purpose. My current role requires lots of consultation, planning and facilitation based on business, country or project team needs. The role supports the business agenda, but has really been impactful for many leaders and teams to shape their meaning and to transform their behaviors which really align to what they are working for. Being lead for Climate Survey planning and execution for over 35,000 colleagues across over 150 countries has been great opportunity to learn and experience true meaning of Diversity and Inclusion, by learning cultures, feedback and ways of working across the globe. Q: Explain one thing you consistently did that led to your successful career? I always thrived on embodying positivity, relentless hard work, and a constant drive to be better than previous accomplishments. Grounded in humbleness and empathy, I navigate challenges with inner strength and resilience. ** Talent Magazine specializes in covering news, events, stories, and job opportunities exclusively associated with Pakistan's leading organizations and individuals. A couple of days ago, I joined an event here in Dubai. During the coffee break, I started chatting with a few people, and, like always—or maybe, like often—one of the first questions was, "Where are you from? And you? And you?" We were five or six around the table, each from a different corner of the world. A Canadian lady, a Sudanese lady, an Indian man, a Pakistani man who had spent years in Malaysia, a lady from Mexico, and myself, from Belgium. And around us, dozens more, each bringing their own unique background to this vibrant city. What a melting pot! I love Dubai! 😊 Our conversation quickly turned to cultural differences, some of which might seem cliché but always spark curiosity and laughter. We laughed about our relationship to time—with one person known to be a bit late and another always 15 minutes early. We discussed table culture: Do we clear plates as people finish, or wait until everyone is done? Do we eat from individual plates or share from a central dish? And what about utensils—forks, chopsticks, fingers? It was both hilarious and fascinating, hearing stories about those moments when cultural norms collide and learning how each of us has reacted in these sometimes awkward situations. I enjoyed every minute of that conversation. Learning about other cultures opens our minds, helping us understand each other better, and makes the world feel a bit closer. Imagine if cultural awareness programs were mandatory in every school around the world—what a difference that could make! Let’s embrace our differences and let them connect us, not separate us. What about you? Have you experienced any memorable cultural moments? I’d love to hear your stories or thoughts on what makes your world more colorful! 😊 #CulturalAwareness #DiversityAndInclusion #CrossCulturalCommunication #EmbraceDiversity #GlobalConnections #CulturalDifferences #LivingInDubai #ExpatsInDubai #WorldCultures #LearningThroughStories #UnityInDiversity #CulturalExchange #HumanConnection #StorytellingCommunity #CelebrateDifferences #welcometotheworld Liren Language & Communication Middle East FZCO https://lnkd.in/eSDwdDRz
