Indian company acquiring stake in a British County!! Delhi Capitals team co-owners, GMR Group takes a majority stake in the Hampshire cricket county and is also keen to get a stake in Southern Brave, a team in the Hundred (read 'English version of the IPL'). Should be called a 'historic event ' as the English Cricket Board had never been keen to get partners from abroad. While the news of US billionaires acquiring EPL clubs is common, Indian conglomerates are making their presence felt in the cricketing world, having been present in CPL, SA20, ILT20. Excited to see the likes of Smriti Mandhana (current Southern Brave member) and hopefully many more Indian women turn up in purple with the owners being Indians. Who knows, a few Indian players get signed up for it too, provided BCCI allows. A few international players like Kane Williamson, Trent Boult have also rejected their national contracts to play multiple leagues. With multiple T20 leagues around the world being launched with IPL franchise owners at the helm, times are definitely changing in the cricketing world. #cricket
