The Regional Universities Network were delighted to be part of Charles Sturt University's CSEdX 2024: Radical Reimagination: Rethinking Learning, Teaching and Student Engagement for Regional Universities. RUN's Chief Executive Alec Webb took part in the keynote panel session alongside Graham Brown, Paul Harpur OAM, Professor Sarah O' Shea and Maria Raciti. Mr. Webb argued that regional universities have a pivotal role to play in meeting the attainment targets set out by the Australian Universities Accord. He advocated for regional universities to proudly champion the work they currently do in educating traditionally underrepresented student cohorts and providing vital workforce to Australia's regions. #universities #CSEdX #regionalimpact #universitiesaccord #regionaluniversities

Hey Australian universities and equity practitioners! Do you want to know how effective an equity-focused intervention is? The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (formerly NCSEHE), through the Equity Frontiers Program, is funding trials to test the effectiveness of interventions designed to improve higher education access and success for students who are historically under-represented in Australian higher education. Applications for funding are NOW OPEN, and can be made at any time by submitting an Expression of Interest (EoI). Applicants identify and describe the intervention rather than the trial methods in this initial application stage. The Equity Frontiers Program Guidelines make clear the selection criteria, focused on the intervention and its potential to impact policy and practice, relevance to the equity sector, scalability, and evaluability. The University of Liverpool-led North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership recently inducted its first cohort of PhD students since becoming the largest ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council funded DTP in the UK. The scheme builds on 13 years of experience collaborating with private, public, and third sector organisations including Unilever, English Heritage, the Bank of England and the Samaritans. Students from across five institutions came together in the Liverpool Guild of Students Stanley Theatre to hear about the opportunities and expectations of their funding, as well as meeting the key #NWSSDTP staff, student reps and other students within their cohort. **What do I do in my spare time?Exploring educational Excellence at GRETB** Today was an eye-opening experience at the Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB). The students' talents left me in awe, underscoring the incredible work happening within these walls. The keynote by the students address emphasized how education isn't just about the present—it's a bridge to countless future opportunities. GRETB equips students with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Comparing Sweden and Ireland's educational approaches was thought-provoking. While both prioritize student growth, the nuances in their methods reflect cultural differences and unique perspectives on learning. The study visits to various preschools were equally impressive. Witnessing young learners engage with hands-on experiences reinforced the importance of early education. Overall, it was a day filled with inspiration and insights. As I shared my knowledge of digital learning tools with the students I hope that they will utilize this knowledge in their role as educators of future citizens. #EducationExcellence #GRETB #FutureOpportunities #StudentTalent
