🤔 Have Any Idea about Excavation Requirements in #SaudiAramco 🇸🇦 ? 👋 هل لديك فكرة عن متطلبات الحفر فى أرامكو .... 🔹️With KSA🇸🇦 #Vision2030, there are many projects 🏗 currently being implemented, most of these #projects are not devoid of #civil works which are basically based on the topic of excavations. 🔹️Saudi Aramco 🇸🇦 & Other Companies have set requirements for this, you as an 👷♂️HSEQ Professionals , must verify & review 🧐 them before starting work, which are: - 1/ All Utilities and lines shall be properly identified and appropriate parties notified before beginning any #digging or cleanup work. 2/ Spoil piles shall be at least 0.6 m (2 ft) from the edge of the #excavation. 3/ Scaffold bases shall be at least 1.5 times the depth of an excavation away from the edges of the excavation (including trenches). 4/ #Mechanical excavators shall not be used within 3 m (10 ft) of any pipes, cables, or other obstructions. 5/ Heavy equipment shall not be operated within 1.8 m (6 ft) of any excavation. 6/ #Cranes shall not be operated closer than the depth of the excavation. 7/ A qualified person shall make daily #inspections of excavations prior to the start of the work shift. 8/ Guardrails or barricades, as necessary, shall be established a safe distance from the excavation to protect individuals and mobile operating equipment above the excavation, or if the excavation is left unattended overnight. 9/ No personnel are permitted in the excavation or #trench when power equipment is being used to perform the excavation. 10/ Blinking warning lights shall be used at excavations at night where there are personnel or vehicle movement. #Requirements for Personnel in Excavation 11/ Only authorized personnel shall enter the excavation & Ensure there is no water seepage inside excavation. 12/ Qualified #personnel shall test and #monitor the atmosphere while personnel are present (e.g., combustibles, toxic #gases, or low O2). 13/ #Ladders or other means of access shall be provided every 7.5 m (25 ft) in all occupied excavations, extending a minimum of 1 m (3 ft) above the top of excavation wall. 14/ #Emergency rescue #equipment shall be immediately available for excavations considered as #confinedspaces. 📍Remember : Don't Forget to Save it👆, may be needed in Future ...🚶➡️ 🗒 Note : If you find the post useful Don't forget to support, you can repost it ♻️👍

365-Day Safety Challenge: Understanding WLL and SWL in Load-Bearing Operations As part of my 365 Day Safety Challenge, I'm diving into two fundamental concepts that are essential for ensuring safety in load-bearing operations: WLL (Working Load Limit) and SWL (Safe Working Load). XWLL (Working Load Limit) WLL defines the maximum safe load that can be applied to lifting equipment or components during normal operation. This is crucial for preventing equipment failure and ensuring the safety of personnel and loads. WLL markings are typically found on equipment labels and follow established standards, including: IS 13367**: Safe code of cranes, code of practice. IS 2266**: This provides guidance on the performance criteria for wire ropes. WLL incorporates safety factors recommended by Indian standards. According to IS 2910, the minimum safety factor for lifting applications is generally set at 5:1. This means that lifting equipment should be able to support at least five times its rated capacity without risk of failure. Example: If a wire rope is rated at 5 tons WLL, it should have a minimum breaking strength (MBL) of 25 tons to ensure optimal safety. MSWL (Safe Working Load) SWL takes into account the load capacity while considering how that load is distributed and the approach angle. This metric is dynamic and calculated based on various loading configurations: Vertical lift**: 100% of WLL Lifting at an angle**: The effective load capacity decreases with the angle due to increased tension. For example: At 30 degrees, approximately 87% of WLL can be utilized. In a basket configuration, it could load up to 200% of WLL under certain conditions. It's essential to understand that angle of loading significantly impacts tensile stress, and following standards such as IS 1570 for chain slings can offer further clarity on safe practices. Key Considerations: Load Type: Always confirm the load doesn't exceed the WLL based on angle and lifting method. Sling Angles: Avoid using slings at extreme angles unless specified by the manufacturer. Regular Inspections: Conduct periodic inspections on all lifting equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards. By focusing on these principles, we can prioritize safety in our operations and encourage a culture of awareness. Understanding WLL and SWL is vital for preventing accidents and promoting operational efficiency. LIFTING PLANS: ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS Working for almost 20 years in the oil and gas industry, one of the most important aspects during construction are lifting activities. The main criterion for safe and effective lifting is the drawing up of a lifting plan. Let us look at the essential elements together. ✅ Load details: Specifies the type of load: e.g. building materials, machinery or components. Indicate the weight of the load in terms of tonnes or kilograms. Describe the dimensions of the load: height, width and length. Consider any special characteristics of the load, such as fragility or dangerousness. Lifting Equipment and Gears: Elaborate on the details of the equipment involved: crane, overhead crane, tracks, etc. Specifies the types of straps, hooks or attachments needed to lift the load. Evaluate the lifting capacity of the equipment and ensure that it is adequate for the intended load. ✅ Personnel in charge: Define the roles within the team: coordinator, crane operator, signalman, etc. Indicate the skills required for each role. Ensure that personnel are trained to handle the equipment and follow safety procedures. ✅ Lifting method: Describe the sequence of operations for lifting: positioning, lifting, moving and final positioning. Include safety measures: e.g. safety distance, signalling, use of safety belts. Clearly communicate instructions to the personnel involved. ✅ Requirements for assembling or disassembling Lifting Equipment (if any): If the equipment requires assembly or disassembly, provide detailed instructions. Consider the time sequence for these operations. ✅ Means of Communication: Ensure that personnel can communicate effectively during the operation. Use radios, hand signals or other appropriate means to coordinate actions. ✅ Physical and Environmental Conditions: Assess the terrain where the lifting will take place: flat, sloping, uneven. Consider the weather: wind, rain, snow. Identify obstacles such as trees, buildings or power lines.
