I wholeheartedly agree . The composition of winning teams must encompass the diversity that mirrors both our workforce and customer base. In fact, diversity is an indispensable catalyst for success across all industries. While it is undeniably crucial for hiring managers to select the most qualified candidate, it is equally imperative for managers to bridge any gaps and construct winning teams that authentically represent the cultural diversity inherent in our workforce, our customers, and the global community. Consequently, it is imperative that we, as a part of the minority workforce are afforded the same opportunities as our non-minority counterparts. We deserve to be regarded as equally esteemed partners and positioned in roles that amplify our skills, thereby opening doors to a multitude of opportunities.

This post may make some uncomfortable, and I am 100% ok with that because with discomfort comes the opportunity for growth. When I was an NFL cheerleader we had a interesting approach to auditions…(don’t leave me hanging post in the comments if you’ve experienced what I’m sharing 💋). This is what it was: our teams were strategically chosen to represent our customer. Meaning diversity was valued…we wanted the best of the best balanced with true representative of our city. You needed to be charismatic and talented and smart and an amazing performer, but the judges understood the assignment - we needed the best and most representative performers available. Having said that and comparing that experience with my recent engaged with numerous Hiring Managers and Executives in the Aesthetic sales space, (encompassing everything from device and skincare companies), I am a little *deep sigh* disappointed with our industry. I am so grateful for my VP that hired me as a Regional manager at my former company. We had a strong sales leadership team and our diverse perspectives fostered significant growth sometimes with just our will, our teams and duct tape! Reflecting on the industry's landscape, it's evident that the lack of diversity, starting with field sales and first-line managers, persists as a critical issue. The belief that diversity is a mere "soft" benefit or social activism undermines its profitability and operational efficiency. The homogeneity among Executives not only hinders profit maximization but also signals potential implicit biases that could be detrimental to financial success and customer resonance in the evolving aesthetic/beauty sector. I have almost a decade of experience as a Hiring manager in more than 1 industry. One way that I’ve built high performing teams is when I am hiring I’m not just hiring for a role or a territory. I’m hiring for missing links on the team. During college I had the chance to work in competitive sports. (Thank you CBS sports). Winning teams recruit and draft what they are missing not just more of what they have…it’s part of a winning formula. #Diversity #Inclusion #salesleadership #Aesthetics #Sales #Leadership #beautyindustry #salescoaching #goodtoguru

I told an eComm founder to fire their $350k/year COO (before you kill me, let me explain why) You may not like this but… it’s time to rethink the operations structure for your team. Here are the challenges of hiring a full-time COO And for context, I'm not talking about 100M brands here I'm talking a brand doing 3M-10M and trying to figure it all out as they grow My rant 1/ It’s becoming an outdated model I think the days of hiring a corporate COO for your DTC biz are over 2/ There’s a rise of fractional leaders Fractional COO’s and ops leaders are coming in Similar to what you’re seeing in the market for fractional CMO / CFO’s We are seeing the same wave toward operations now Why is a fractional COO better then? (in some cases) -It’s cost-effective, you save on high locked-in salaries -Only bring the expertise and specialized skills needed -More flexible and can adapt It’s all about bringing in the right expertise at the right time without the full-time price tag - What’s your take? Is it time to lean into fractional leadership?

A lot of people ask me, "What does a District Manager do on a daily basis?" 🤔 While sales is a key focus, it’s much more than that! As a District Manager, my role involves: 📊 Sales Strategy & Reporting – Analyzing performance data, building sales pipelines, and forecasting trends to stay ahead of the competition. 🛠️ Store Operations – Overseeing day-to-day operations, inventory management, and ensuring smooth store processes. 👥 Team Leadership – Coaching, training, and onboarding new hires, while providing ongoing support to help my team succeed. 💼 Hiring & Compensation – Negotiating compensation packages and recruiting top talent to build a high-performing team. 💡 Merchandising & Store Visits – Ensuring the stores are visually appealing and aligned with brand standards through regular visits. 🔗 Collaboration – Constant communication with teams, stakeholders, and leadership to drive results and foster a cohesive work environment. It's a dynamic, multifaceted role where I get to blend strategic thinking with hands-on leadership to drive both sales growth and operational excellence. 🚀 #StayConnected #StayAware #FreedomMobile #Canada #2024

The consequences for a marketing leader of not building a world-class marketing team can be dire. Here's what it means: Missed Goals: Without a strong team, hitting targets becomes a struggle. This reflects poorly on the CMO's abilities and can stall their career progress. Brand Reputation at Risk: A weak team might mishandle messaging or crises, damaging the brand's reputation. This reflects badly on the CMO and can harm their professional standing. Falling Behind Competitors: In a fast-paced market, innovation is key. Without a top team, the company risks lagging behind, casting doubt on the CMO's leadership. Team Discontent: A lackluster team leads to low morale and turnover. This reflects poorly on the CMO's ability to lead a motivated team. Loss of Trust: Ultimately, executives hold the CMO responsible for results. Failure to build a strong team erodes trust and can jeopardize the CMO's position. In short, building a great team isn't just about hitting targets – it's about safeguarding your career and the company's success. Want to build a World Class Marketing team?
