Friday in HR: 20 things from the to-do list, still incomplete. Feeling overwhelmed with a never-ending HR to-do list? You're not alone. Why does this happen? In HR, our primary mission is to support our business and people in achieving their objectives. This often means our strategic initiatives get pushed aside for urgent, high-priority tasks. The reality: We can't create more time, and we can't expect ourselves or our teams to regularly work 80+ hours in a week to get everything done. So, what's the solution? Prioritize and Plan: At the start of each quarter, identify the 1-3 major projects/initiatives that must be completed. These are your non-negotiables. Stick to Your Priorities: Make these projects your top priority, working on them whenever possible. Delegate Effectively: Empower your team by delegating tasks that can be handled by others. Trust in their abilities and free up your time for strategic work. Use Technology: Implement HR tech tools to automate repetitive tasks. This will save time and increase efficiency. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to non-essential tasks and focus on what truly matters. Protect your time and energy for high-impact activities. Time Blocking: Allocate specific time blocks in your calendar dedicated solely to working on your priority projects. Celebrate Small Wins: Recognize and celebrate progress, no matter how small.
