Adopting an AI-first mindset should be the first atomic habit.

AI is everywhere right now. But let’s talk about where we really are in its adoption cycle. If you’ve ever seen the Gartner Hype Cycle, you know what I mean: 1️⃣ Peak of inflated expectations: Everyone is hyped. Wild claims abound. 2️⃣ Trough of disillusionment: Reality hits. The tech doesn’t deliver everything it promised. 3️⃣ Slope of enlightenment: Expectations realign, and value becomes clear. Right now, I believe AI is moving into the disillusionment phase. Why? Because the hype has made it harder than ever to stand out. Outlandish claims are everywhere. People are overwhelmed. And many are asking, does this tech actually deliver? So how do you navigate this moment? Here’s what’s worked for us at Arphie: 👉 Focus on outcomes, not just AI. Yes, we use AI—but it’s not our selling point. Instead, we focus on what really matters: → Giving teams time back to work on bigger opportunities. → Delivering higher-quality, more consistent, and more accurate answers. → Reducing the need for extensive review cycles compared to legacy platforms. The takeaway? AI isn’t the goal. It’s a tool to deliver results that matter. I've started listening to the #BG2 podcast that features Brad Gerstner and Bill Gurley. I've found their conversations quite honest, grounded and thought provoking. Lately they have been talking a lot about #AI and I've been keenly following their take on the current and future projects of AI. This week their conversation focused on how AI is driving massive capital spending and they also discussed if this means that the role of software is diminishing with the advent of AI. While there are definitely innovative businesses that have emerged that have AI at their core, AI is also being used to drive productivity gains. I myself have been using AI heavily as a research assistant and I can say that I am easily 40-50% more efficient because of it. In some companies, this efficiency will manifest as a reduction in workforce as companies rely on more human + AI co-pilots for their development needs. Apart from pure innovation, this is the other thing driving AI. In the All In podcast, Chamath Palihapitiya often asks why the massive AI spend is not resulting in equivalent revenue impact. Perhaps the answer may be that this will result not from growth, but from reduced operating expenses for businesses. Personally, I feel that the efficiency gains I have seen allow me to have some idle cycles. And when I am bored, somehow creativity follows. I think its a well known phenomenon and it makes sense because it is kind of hard to truly think outside the box when you're slammed with work and always running against deadlines. I've always believed that the AI revolution will allow the really creative people to shine whereas earlier, success mostly belonged to those with skill. This is the latent impact of AI that will play out over time.

Will I get left behind if I don't use AI? This is the top question I get asked daily. Recently, I had the chance to sit down with Scott Aaron on his podcast to dive into this in detail, but here’s the short version ⤵ You won’t get left behind as a person, but your business might. It’s not just about having an AI product or using AI tools. The real issue is that if your business isn’t engaging with prospects where your competitors are, and building those relationships, it’s going to feel the impact. Don’t rush to add AI to your product or adopt every AI tool available. Instead, focus on identifying the biggest obstacle that's holding your business back from generating revenue. Break that down into smaller, solvable problems, and use AI to tackle those step-by-step. Start small, vet your tools, and work your way toward solving the core challenges standing in the way of your business scaling efficiently with AI.

With AI advancing, accessing vast amounts of knowledge will become easier than ever. AI can provide instant answers, process data at incredible speeds, and keep us informed in real-time. In this future, everyone will have the same knowledge at their fingertips, making the ability to learn and gather facts no longer the differentiating factor. Wisdom Wisdom, on the other hand, comes from within; it’s about tuning into your inner self. While knowledge is external, wisdom connects to deeper concepts like kindness, empathy, balance, and harmony—traits that no AI can fully replicate. To tap into wisdom, practices like mindfulness and meditation allow us to access inner clarity and creative problem-solving that comes from intuition and experience.
