The holidays can be a time of joy, but for survivors of trauma, it can also be a season of triggers, overwhelming emotions, and silence. Let’s change that. Survivors deserve to feel supported and seen, especially during the holidays when feelings of isolation can intensify. A simple gesture—like checking in, offering a listening ear, or sharing a kind word—can make a world of difference. Trauma doesn’t take a holiday break, and neither should our compassion. Together, we can create a safe space for survivors to feel empowered and understood, even in the busiest season. This holiday season, commit to being an ally for survivors. Educate yourself on trauma-informed care, amplify their voices, and offer unconditional support. Whether it’s through a kind message, a donation to a local advocacy center, or simply holding space, your actions matter. #SupportSurvivors #TraumaInformedCare #HolidayHealing #EmpathyMatters #EndTheSilence

What makes someone care about a cause? I think there are a few reasons. 1. It has a direct impact on their life or on someone they love. 2. It taps into a core identity, belief or value. 3. Their friend cares - and they care about their friend. A big chunk of our fundraising revenue at Experience Camps comes from the end-of-year Crowdfunding campaign, where people mostly from reason #1 tap into their networks for mostly reason #3. This year, I’m participating for reason #2. I believe in the concept of Tikkun Olam - to repair the world. I believe it’s up to each of us to heal what’s broken through kindness, generosity, and action. I believe (actually, I KNOW) that what we are doing for grieving kids is changing their lives. This isn’t just my job - it’s my purpose. Our camp programs are 100% free to every child who attends, and we raise our funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations who care. If you’d like to support grieving kids for any of the reasons above, please consider making a donation to my Crowdfunding page and reply in the comments to let me know WHY YOU CARE. Because your story is another reason I care. https://lnkd.in/ePy5FMn8 #givingtuesday #philanthropy #generosity #fundraising #nonprofit

Strength in Numbers: The Joe and Mulder’s Story Witness the incredible journey of Joe and his autism service dog, Mulder. Through the power of community, perseverance, and love, their story showcases how support can transform lives. Joe, a bright young boy with autism, faces daily challenges that can sometimes isolate him from others. His mother, Stephanie, witnessed his struggles with social interactions and self-harm, which made their lives incredibly difficult. But their love for Joe fueled their determination to find a solution. When the Welters learned about 4 Paws for Ability, an organization providing service dogs for children with autism, they saw a ray of hope. They needed to raise $15,000 for the training of a service dog, which is a small portion of the total cost. They thought it would take them 18 months to raise this amount of money. With a heartfelt letter included in their Christmas cards and an article published by a local newspaper, the community’s response was overwhelming. Donations and support poured in from local businesses, students, and even strangers. Within three months, they reached their goal. Meet Mulder: Joe’s Guardian Angel The arrival of Mulder, a goldendoodle, changed Joe’s life. For the first time, Joe slept through the night. His educational achievements improved, and he integrated into classes with typical kids. Most importantly, Mulder helped Joe connect with his peers, shifting the focus from his autism to his loving bond with his dog. Joe’s story is a testament to the strength found in community and the transformative power of service dogs. Through collective effort and love, Joe’s life has been enriched beyond measure. Let’s celebrate Joe, Mulder, and the amazing community that made this possible. Share Joe and Mulder’s story to inspire others and highlight the impact of community support and service dogs in transforming lives. #StrengthInNumbers #AutismAwareness #ServiceDogs #Inspiration #CommunitySupport #4PawsForAbility

~ Movember Update ~ Halfway through the month and the tashes are coming along nicely! This month we have decided to grow the moustache (ridiculous I know), for a very important cause. Movember is about raising awareness around men's health issues. This isn’t just about growing a moustache; it’s about growing awareness. Encouraging conversations. Breaking stigmas. Here are some eye-opening stats: 👉 Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide. 👉 Men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. Check in with loved ones, speak about your troubles and lets support each other🗣️🗣️🗣️ If you're growing a 'stache or supporting in other ways this Movember, share your journey! Let’s normalize these conversations and make a difference. 🖤 Let’s support each other, one moustache at a time. Looking good boys!🥸 Scott Eveson Adam Marriott Assoc BIoR #Movember #MensHealth #MentalHealthAwareness
As we reach the second week of November and awareness for Men's Mental Health our own Scott Eveson, Charlie Gilbert and Adam Marriott Assoc BIoR are now showing off their impressives Movember Tashes! Who's tash do we all think is the most impressive? All donations go towards the continued support and awareness around Men's Mental Health: https://lnkd.in/eUweNNHv #TXMRecruit #Movember #MensMentalHealth

This #MindfulnessMonday we are using pinwheels, a symbol of Child Abuse Prevention Month, to learn about breathwork. Pinwheels are the perfect prop to teach children about breathing because it can help them to visualize their breath. Start by having your child blow as hard as they can at the pinwheel. Notice how fast it spins. Then ask them to blow even harder! Again, ask them to notice the pinwheel. Next, ask them to blow as gently as possible so that the pinwheel barely moves. Ask them: - Which breathing was easiest? Which was hardest? - How did you feel after you were done blowing each time? By drawing your child's attention to their breath, they will be more likely to notice how they are breathing throughout the day! . #kidstalkcac #guidancecentermi #childrensadvocacycenters #nonprofit #children #advocacy #therapy #forensicinterview #medical #traumainformed #childcentered #detroit #southgatemi #waynecountymi #michigan #trauma #healing #resilience #support #donate #mission #endchildabuse #mindfulness #gratitude #thankful #meditation #reset #center #focus

You've been working on yourself - investing in laying and fortifying your foundation. You know who you are. You know what you stand for. You know what values you want to see more of in the world. You can feel purpose simmering under your skin. As you sense that you've got more to give, you should put that new energy into action. You may not know where to start, and that's okay! There may be many ways you feel called to support and serve - try them all. Start with small acts of service - volunteering at a soup kitchen, the humane society, or with an organization that serves a community you care about. Participating in small acts service will likely open your eyes to areas where you feel passionate about serving. You'll start to see ways your service, or that of an organization, could expand - and you may feel inspired to lead that expansion. __________________ Read Struggle Well, Thriving in the Aftermath of Trauma for more on the Concentric Circles of Service. https://lnkd.in/eE-84gTh #THISisPTG #PosttraumaticGrowth #Service #PTG #StruggleWell #ChooseGrowth #WarriorPATHH
