🎄 It’s the season of giving 🎁 At HRS, we believe in coming together—not just as colleagues, but as one united Tribe. And we all share one belief: water is a human right. That’s why we’re proud to continue supporting Viva con Agua and their ONE WASH program. Since 2021, this program has been transforming lives in Uganda’s Yumbe and Karamoja regions, working to provide 45,000 people with access to clean drinking water, basic sanitation, and hygiene. In 2024, the journey continues with projects that rehabilitate wells, build sanitation facilities, and bring hygiene education to schools—creating real, lasting change. Every well rehabilitated means hundreds of families gain access to clean water. It’s not just about water; it’s about improving health, education, and opportunities for brighter futures. Want to join us in making a difference? 🙂 You can donate here: https://lnkd.in/eS2VQBMm.

It is World Water Day. A time to reflect on the urgency for the need for drinking water and also what can be done to raise the bar when it comes to WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) initiatives. At the Rotary Club of Sentosa, Singapore, we have been actively involved in WASH projects in primary and secondary schools in Siem Reap, Cambodia by building toilets and washing stations. This is supplemented by education of proper hygiene standards, the need for washing hands and also to refrain from practices that are unsafe. This education extends to the families of the students, the village leadership and the villagers. Our projects are supported by generous donors in the region and also helped by Global Grants from Rotary International. Since 2020, we have built toilets and washing stations in 45 schools, at the same time providing many of them with water filters for potable water. Organisations like WATER.ORG are playing an important role in alleviating the water situation in South East Asia with urgency and purpose. The time for ACTION is now. #rotaryclubsentosa #water.org #gaysantos #water #sustainabledevelopment #WASH

One Family, One Meal: Combating Hunger and Spreading Joy On December 20th, 2024, the Asake Empowerment Foundation organized the One Family, One Meal initiative at No. 9, Rasak Onilu Plaza, Niger Road. This impactful program aimed to provide meals for 500 families during the festive season, ensuring that families in need could celebrate with dignity and hope. The program's execution involved a series of well-coordinated steps: 1. Awareness and Ticket Distribution: Awareness campaigns were conducted to identify families in need, and tickets were distributed to ensure an organized distribution process. 2. Data Collection and Processing: Information gathered from recipients was systematically entered into our database for accurate tracking and accountability. 3. Procurement and Packaging: Essential food items were carefully procured and packaged to meet the needs of the families. 4. Distribution: Food packages were distributed to the 500 families who had received tickets, ensuring a seamless and fair process. The initiative successfully reached its target, providing much-needed relief to families and bringing joy to their homes during the festive season. The smiles and gratitude from the beneficiaries underscored the importance of such interventions in combating hunger and fostering hope within underserved communities. The success of this outreach was made possible through the unwavering support of our donors, sponsors, and partners. Their generosity and commitment to humanity enabled us to achieve this milestone. As we look toward the future, we remain dedicated to addressing the issue of food insecurity and improving the lives of vulnerable families. We encourage individuals, organizations, and well-meaning members of society to partner with us in this mission. Together, we can reach even more families, reduce starvation, and create lasting change.

At FareShare North East we're supporting FareShare UK as they launch their manifesto ahead of the General Election, asking "Where's The Food?" This is particularly relevant for us at FareShare North East as we're running out of food - even though millions of tonnes of good to eat surplus food are still going to waste in the UK The manifesto sets out a clear plan to remove barriers to food redistribution and help us to work together with the government, industry, and the third sector to ensure we feed people first Just as important, the manifesto also calls for a UK-wide plan to end the need for emergency food aid - it is unacceptable in a country as wealthy as the UK, nor is it a lasting solution to food insecurity Read more & show your support here - https://lnkd.in/eRT7vCgp
Today we are launching our manifesto ahead of the General Election, calling on the next Government to commit to delivering more surplus food to those in need. Titled “Where’s the Food? Strengthening Communities Through Surplus Food Redistribution”, the manifesto lays out measures to incentivise businesses to redistribute more of their surplus, proposals to support the redistribution sector and strengthen communities in the process, and a plan for a wider food system reset. We are calling for: 💚 Subsidies for farmers to cover redistribution costs 💚 Tax benefits for businesses donating surplus food 💚 Mandatory food waste reporting 💚 Clear guidelines for ‘good samaritans’ on food donation safety 💚 Sustained funding for farm level food redistribution 💚 A UK-wide plan to end charitable food aid 💚 Resources for local food waste and food security projects By working together, government, the third sector, and industry can overcome the challenges to redistributing surplus – and ensure more food reaches the people who need it. 🚰 Happy Global Handwashing Day! 🌍💧 At Easy Water for Everyone, we’re on a mission to bring clean water to rural villages across Sub-Saharan Africa—because access to safe water is the key to good hygiene and healthy communities. 🧼💧 Handwashing with soap and clean water can prevent the spread of disease, but millions still don’t have the resources they need. That’s why we’re installing water filtration devices that provide safe water for schools, clinics, and homes. 💙 You can help: ✨ Spread the word about handwashing with clean water. ✨ Donate to fund handwashing stations and hygiene education. ✨ Support clean water access in Ghana, Uganda, and Senegal. Together, we can ensure clean hands and healthier futures for all! 🙌 https://lnkd.in/eaX3Cpv 🌟 #GlobalHandwashingDay #CleanWaterForEveryone #SafeHandsHealthyLives #EasyWaterforEveryone

It's #WorldToiletDay, so let's talk sanitation. 🧻 🌍 According to the United Nations, 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation, including 419 million people who practice open defecation. The consequences? Disease, poverty, and immense hardship. Sanitation is about more than just toilets – it’s about health, safety, and dignity. Poor sanitation is one of the leading causes of waterborne diseases, which claim countless lives every year despite being entirely preventable. Here’s the good news: thanks to your support, our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects reached over 1.3 million people last year! 💙 Find out how your support is transforming communities around the world. 👇🏼

𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 - 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 The most rewarding aspect of this project is bringing hope to many people who would have otherwise gone without a meal. Additionally, addressing one of their basic needs enables them to focus on reaching other goals. It's about changing lives and being a blessing to so many communities. The Gondwana Care Trust made significant progress over the years, in 2023 with its MealForTwo Project, it provided over 395,285 balanced meals to Namibians facing daily food insecurity. Meanwhile for the first three months of 2024, the Trust in collaboration with partners has provided 52, 500 meals. The Trust works with local organisations and soup kitchens to distribute food to those most in need. The project’s beneficiaries include soup kitchens, schools, and old age homes across Namibia. Food supplies are sourced from various channels, from excess meat from the Gondwana Self-Sufficiency Centre in Stampriet, while groceries are supplied through the support of the Capricorn Foundation, Global United, Seapride, and Wecke & Voigts Group. Partnerships with businesses like African Marketing and Kaleidoscope Marketing facilitate ad hoc donations of foodstuffs. Furthermore, Groote Post, NamibMills, Namib Poultry, Kercon and other individual donations enable the Trust to continue providing daily balanced meals to many communities. Since the project’s inception, the Trust has donated over 1.1 million meals.
