There is a popular misconception amongst pilots the QNE is 1013 hpa when used as a reference as opposed to a QNH. 1013 is defined a Standard pressure setting (SPS). Therefore QNE is what the altimeter will read at touchdown with SPS set. References: Oxford Airlow ATPL book ICAO doc:8400

Today I would like to share this incredible book on avionics with my fellow aircraft mechanics, engineers, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts. It is essential reading for those who wish to deepen their knowledge beyond the basics. This book is particularly interesting for those who want to conduct a more detailed study of fundamental systems such as ELT, ILS, VOR, ADF, EFIS, transponders, Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders, among other avionics systems. Additionally, the book features an extensive glossary of panel abbreviations, making it an indispensable resource for any aviation professional or enthusiast. Avionics Training, by Len Buckwalter.

Did you know that summer is one of the best seasons for pilot training? ☀️ It’s also a peak time for BAA Training's pilot academy, which uses the warm months to provide real-world flight time for its students. According to Deputy Chief Flight Instructor at BAA Training, Omar El Sawi Noureldin, summer “brings changes to aircraft performance that enhance the student’s understanding of flight.” This includes changes in air density, extreme weather conditions, and others. Learn more about BAA Training’s Ab Initio flight academy summer training in the article below. 👉 https://lnkd.in/d69QYdG4 #AviaSolutionsGroup #BAATraining #Aviation

Today I received a perfect score on my line evaluation in the Alsim A-Jet Airliner, marking the completion of the AVIT 480 course (Advanced Aircraft Operations) at UND! This course, combined with its prerequisite course AVIT 428 (Transport Category Aircraft Systems) prepares UND students for part 121 training and operations. This includes an LMS course on A320 systems — along with a systems validation — followed by a procedures validation, maneuvers validation, and line evaluation in the Alsim. This puts UND students ahead of the curve after graduation, as we have a working understanding of important concepts such as airliner systems, V1 cuts and other emergency operations, CRM as both captain and FO, flying in the flight levels, part 121 regulations, FMS programming, etc. Additionally, this course provides the knowledge, study skills, and confidence to effectively study for a type rating. The “Alsim Airliner” is a fictitious aircraft simulator that accurately represents both Airbus and Boeing cockpit philosophies — although the “A-Jet” model favors Airbus. More information about the Alsim Airliner can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gUbW95Ds #flyund #undaerospace #alsim #airliner

Fully digital and did not see a standby gyro (I would want one)! Total electrical failure at night flying off ship, especially during Cat Shot most of us, if not all, stuffed a L Shaped Flash Light (turned on) in our survival vest pointed at the dash to include the standby gyro. Maybe instantaneous battery power kicks in? Another question is sensor technology, 360 degrees around aircraft. Canopy to turtle back integration is not optimal for checking six!
Finally I have a hasty cockpit shot of the Su-57 Felon to share. 👇 The below photo is from a prototype of the aircraft, word on the street is the production aircraft have upgraded screens. There’s something about that blue/green cockpit that is just….calming. Also, note the center stick (to reduce training time for pilots converting from other Russian airframe). I’m still looking for the ash tray and cigarette lighter inside the cockpit. 😂 /// HOLDEN SENDS
