This press is almost 3 years in the making. In this video I am military pressing a 79.3 lb kettlebell for the first time. The ultimate goal is to press an 88 lb one by end of April. You can even notice a little disbelief in my face 😮 Why is that? Because I did it with my “weak” arm. Here is to showing up. Here is to following the plan. Here is to believing in yourself. Here is to aging strong. If you do the work, success is inevitable In strength and health, Hugo #strongover40 #agestrong #strengthtraining

Perseverance = Perfection! For me, being in a later stage of life and my US Army career, it’s tough! On any given day, I’m 17-22lbs OVER the weight the Army says I should be for my height. Beyond the weight, my waist fluctuates daily from an inch under the max allowable limit to an inch over. My body has gotten to the point where the shape, composition, and weight don’t change no matter how much or hard I exercise and diet. I don’t even drink soda or alcohol, and don’t use any nicotine products either. So what can I do? Just keep grinding! Back in October I couldn’t even get 340lbs off the ground and today I just completed a three repetition deadlift which equals a 100% score for this event on the Army Combat Fitness Test. Why does it matter? I have to continue scoring high enough on each ACFT to be exempt from body fat tape measurements. It would be a lot easier if I was 17-22lbs UNDER my prescribed screening weight and could coast through each ACFT, especially at my age and 21 years of service. For now, I keep lifting and striving for excellence. #Perseverance #ACFT #Grind #Grit #Army #Bodyfat #GrowthMindset #Hardwork

𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 :- Military Press 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 :- The largest and most obvious benefit from performing the military press on a regular basis is the progressive increase it provides to the exerciser's general upper body strength, allowing the exerciser to perform push type exercises with a greater amount of resistance than they would previously have been able to do. 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 :- Triceps in your arms, the trapezius muscles in your upper back, and the deltoid muscles in your shoulders, including the anterior and medial delts. 𝐖𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 :- 30 k.g. 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 Spoiler-- this is NOT one of those philosophical posts making some type of analogy between 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 and business... 😎 So ,,,,,,I recently had access to a pool for the 1st time in years and thought, I would try some of the old 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 drills that I did a few years ago, when training with group of retired Navy SEALs..(those guys).. THE DRILL--- start off with basic treading water for the 1st minute...then next, stop using your hands/arms next, bring your hands up out of the water to your wrists next, bring your hands up out of the water to your elbows last.. bring your hands up out of the water and over your head as if holding your weapon out of the water. Small detail--- keep treading water and your head above water the whole time. LMK how you did 😎 PS... you can do this either in swim gear or fully dressed post run/workout, I have done it both with sneakers and combat boots...

"Five years, and soccer was like a phone on airplane mode. 📴 Jet Fighter Pilots and boxers? They were the network boosters!
