I have been very vocal about this thorny issue. I am very against changing the term ¨Oriental¨ The fact that you have identified twelve different possibilities says it all for me. This movement was started by , as far as I know, two woke individuals in US who were horrified that a term like Oriental could be used in 21st Century. It reeked of colonialism and a lack of understanding of cultural differences. What utter twaddle. I lived in Asia for 20 years. I contacted many friends there and asked their opinion. Were you offended when someone said Oriental? Much laughter and a resounding NO!. I asked friends in Middle East. Same reaction. Oriental in perfumery encompasses the notes of a fragrance. it is not just Ambery. It is a complex melange of ingredients, creativity and ¨feel¨. Then you dive deeper into the fragrance creation. To the 12 or so different secondary accords. I was horrified by the number of fragrance companies and leading lights in the industry who quickly jumped on the bandwagon for fear of being ostracised and being labelled racist, backward and disrespectful. So that´s my view and I will continue to use the description.

Discussing about those things is just a loss of time. There is things which elevate the human soul much higher then those questions. Orient will always exist here, and if we are the orient of other people, this is nice too. But what do we think about the freedom of speech? About respect for each others without having to use labels? These are true discussions to have. All the rest is superficial and useless. Fragrance business became stupid.
