Ever found yourself lost in the world of fragrance terminology? 🌸 Accord An "accord" in perfumery is a blend of two or more ingredients that when combined create a recognisable scent. A balanced composition of various fragrance notes that work together to produce a specific olfactory effect. Perfumers use accords to build the formulation of a fragrance. 👃 Notes “Notes” are the individual components that make up a fragrance. Imagine them as the building blocks, each contributing a distinct scent. A fragrance is made up of 3 tiers of notes, there are top notes (the initial impression), heart notes (core fragrance, creating the character), and base notes (long lasting foundation). 🌟 EDP You might have come across "EDP" on your favourite fragrances. It stands for Eau de Parfum. This term indicates the concentration of fragrance oils in the perfume. EDP contains a higher concentration compared to EDT (Eau de Toilette), making it stronger and longer lasting. Are there any fragrance terms that you are not familiar with and would like to know more? Manos Gerakinis - Methexis Methexis - the second collaboration between Manos Gerakinis Parfums and renowned perfumer Chris Maurice, and a finalist in The Fragrance Foundation UK Awards 2023. Following the success of Immortelle, this fragrance is the second gourmand offering in the Greek fragrance house’s collection. It presents a sophisticated, creamy, and enticing composition centred around the delicious theme of fig. Methexis opens with an enticing burst of ripe and juicy fig, enhanced by the tangy bite of blackcurrant and the luscious sweetness of dried fruits. The creamy, milky fig aroma is then beautifully complemented by a smooth, powdery cocoa note, with touches of honey, vanilla, and cinnamon sprinkling warmth throughout the heart of the fragrance. Despite the richness of these sweet notes, the fig’s green, slightly bitter leaves balance the composition perfectly before settling into a base of amber, musk, and woody notes. What makes Methexis truly special is its balance. While many gourmand fragrances can be overwhelmingly sweet, the green, slightly bitter leaves of the fig introduce a subtle earthiness, preventing the composition from becoming overly sweet. This delicate balance is maintained as the scent settles into its base, where amber, musk, and woody notes provide a sensual, grounded finish. Though gourmand fragrances are typically suited for colder weather, Methexis, with its creamy and smooth structure, is versatile for all seasons and highly unisex. In conclusion, Methexis is more than just a fragrance—it’s an olfactory journey that captures the richness of fig while balancing sweetness and freshness with remarkable skill. With its refined composition and standout gourmand profile, it’s no wonder that this scent has garnered acclaim in the fragrance world. #manosgerakinisparfums #manosgerakinismethexis #parfumledance

Finding your favourite perfume is not easy. Not only do you have to pick a scent, but you also have to decide which form you'd like it in. In fact, "perfume" and "cologne" aren’t the same and it isn’t about their gender but about the concentration of perfume oil in alcohol and water. They indicate the strength and longevity of the scent. It can be confusing so here is a breakdown to make it simple: → Eau Fraiche - The most diluted version contains 1 to 3% perfume oil and usually lasts less than an hour. → Eau de Cologne (Cologne) - Often masculine in North America, these are light and fresh with 2 to 4% perfume oils that last about two hours. → Eau de Toilette (Toilette) - The middle ground of fragrances, with 5 to 15% pure perfume essence and lasts for about three hours. → Eau de Parfum (Parfum) - It contains 15 to 20% pure perfume essence and can last up to eight hours. → Perfume - The most concentrated and expensive option, with 20 to 30% pure perfume and a single application can last up to 24 hours. Perfumer decisions are completely personal and subjective, often influenced by memories and preferences. Which one do you usually prefer? #perfumery #fragrance
