But putting employees first ultimately pays dividends through stronger job satisfaction, performance and retention. Start focusing on active listening over quick solutions. Discover responses tailored to individuals, not just generic phrases. Make room in the schedule for quality time with both individuals and teams. By improving their leadership empathy, managers create workplaces where people feel valued, heard and cared for." The Strengths approach is awesome! If we are aware of our own strengths then we feel confident and connected to ourselves and the approach we use in relationship to others, executing how we are motivated to accomplish our goals, stratizing and influencing for best practices and results. Using the strengths approach with jobseekers in the many workshops I have facilitated has been a life-changing and empowering experience for many. Using it as a team-building tool helps the Leader better understand their staff and hopefully staff embraces each others strengths to partner with others who may not share particular strengths to lead a project or complete a goal. What always inspires me is how attention to our strengths is what the business guru, Peter Drucker stated repeatedly, Most people think they know what they are good at. They are usually wrong…And yet,a person can perform only from strength.” The depth of acknowledging your strengths is deep. When we overuse or underuse our strengths, we are in our weakness-it is self-awareness and the balance of being in our strengths that is the sweet spot for success. It also is the support, understanding and enthusiasm of Leadership and staff to fully impact the power and empowerment of utilizing strengths in the workplace.
