My coauthors and I just proudly presented our paper, "This Probably Looks Exactly Like That: An Invertible Prototypical Network," at #ECCV2024 in Milan, Italy! It's been great to see familiar faces and see all the new AI innovation, especially in the Explainable AI space. Special thanks to Walter Scheirer and University of Notre Dame for supporting my research and travels!

🌐 Under the title "AI Research Meets Practice: Perspectives for Companies and Society", the consortium project SAIL Research Network invited to the Applied AI Day at the Hochschule Bielefeld! 🌐
In addition to contributions from research and industry on the topic of AI, a demonstrator exhibition showed possible applications of AI. inIT employees Julian Knaup and Jörn Tebbe were also there and presented their PhD projects.

Coming to World Summit AI this week? I'm attending, too - let's meet if you're looking to train LLM, streamline MLops, or build an AI app powered by super easy-to-use inference service serving open source models. Stop by our booth, listen to Nebius's talk by Aleksandr Patrushev Oct 10, 15:10 at Track 2 - Generative AI & LLMs, we'll be excited to hear about your AI strategy and discuss how we can help!

🌎 World Summit AI: discussing LLM R&D and more
At World Summit AI in Amsterdam, where our headquarters are located, we will once again be featured with our talk and booth B06. To learn about how we dogfood our infrastructure for our own advancements in large models, come to the “Generative AI & LLMs” stage on October 10 at 15:10. Presenting from Nebius will be our own Aleksandr Patrushev. Many interesting conferences are happening all over the world, so for us, staying home is a rare opportunity!

We reported the discovery of a novel structural class of antibiotics at Integrated Biosciences, Inc. a few months ago in Nature. Now, this work has been highlighted in a report from the AI Working Group of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
"By leveraging AI algorithms to navigate the vast chemical space of potential molecular structures, researchers were able to identify a novel compound with potent antibacterial activity against a wide range of pathogens, including those resistant to existing antibiotics. This type of discovery-based method shows great promise for providing new insights about molecular structures and functions, for example leading to whole new classes of antibiotics."
Supercharging Research: Harnessing AI to Meet Global Challenges.
Here is the full report from the AI Working Group of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). In the Executive Order on AI, we were asked by the president to provide a report on "AI’s implications for scientific research..." and "...the potential role of AI, especially given recent developments in AI, in research aimed at tackling major societal and global challenges." We designed the report to be accessible to the public and leaders in government. It was a pleasure to collaborate with PCAST colleagues on the effort.

A conversation about the advancing capabilities of AI and its development trajectory over the next five years will conclude our two-day symposium next week. (Tuesday 21 May, 6.00pm to 7.00pm).
Nicklas Berild Lundblad of Google DeepMind will talk with Kenneth Benoit about the future of AI, what developments we should be paying most attention to, how it is being used to advance scientific discovery, how we can ensure it is developed and applied responsibly, and more.

On my way to #CAIN2024 in Lisbon, Portugal. Excited to discuss building AI systems with researchers and practitioners from all around the world.
And make sure to join the panel that I have the honor to moderate: „Innovation in AI at the speed of light - can SWE keep pace in a responsible way?“
Instead of talking much about the future potential of AI, here’s a great example of instant value for our customers, readily available today.
If you’re also excited about tangible implementation of powerful technologies - let’s talk!
Have you always wanted to see what the application of artificial intelligence in microscopy looks like? 😏
