Qatar Ports CEO Explores Maritime Cooperation with Singapore Shipping Arabia, October 13, 2024 — Captain Abdullah Mohammed Al-Khanji, CEO of Qatar Ports, met with Her Excellency Ms. Soumaya Bakkawi, Chargé d'Affaires and Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore to the State of Qatar. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in the ports and maritime transport sectors, as well as enhancing trade relations between Qatar and Singapore. Discussions centered on expanding joint efforts in maritime transport, improving port operations, and exploring new opportunities to boost trade between the two nations. Seven Countries Establish the International Association “Eurasian Transport Route” Representatives from seven countries – China, Turkey, Austria, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan – have agreed to establish the International Association “Eurasian Transport Route,” with its headquarters to be located in Baku. This initiative opens up new opportunities for expanding transport networks between China and Europe through Central Asia and the Caucasus. The association plans to develop a unified tariff policy and enhance infrastructure along the Middle Corridor, which will improve transportation efficiency and reduce delivery times. The Transcaspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, includes key routes such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is already operational. #Azerbaijani Railways (ADY) is considering the option of purchasing or building a #railway terminal in China. #ADY ’s Chairman Rovshan Rustamov made the company’s intentions known to appoint a special representative for China, as Azerbaijani outlet Aze.media mentioned. The first step would be to open an ADY office in #China, but things still seem to be in their infancy. Azerbaijan is not the first country exploring the possibility of building a terminal on Chinese territory. Kazakhstan did the same in Xi’an, in the hear of China. This terminal seems to be already showing some results, as traffic alongside the #MiddleCorridor has grown by 70 per cent since its opening.
