As you may have noticed, I regularly post interesting case studies from KMC Global Europe Sp. z o. o.'s portfolio. Today, I’ll share how automotive manufacturers can reduce tramp oil and boost productivity. 🔍 A large client in the automotive industry faced significant production downtime and reduced productivity due to excessive tramp oil build-up in their machining centers. Their outdated filtration system required heavy maintenance and frequent filter changes, leading to operational inefficiencies. To tackle this issue, PRAB, Inc. provided a comprehensive solution with their TW-50 and TW-100 Tramp Oil Separators. The TW-50 and TW-100 are advanced separation systems designed to efficiently remove tramp oil from coolant systems. These units use high-strength, stainless steel log chains in combination with magnetic separators to ensure thorough removal of oil and metal particles. This setup eliminates typical problems associated with older systems, such as flaking, fraying, and frequent maintenance. As a result, tramp oil levels were reduced to about 2%, achieving over 70% purity. Tool life increased significantly, with one operator reporting 430 more parts produced between cutter replacements. The new system required minimal maintenance, enabling consistent 24/7 operation. GF LEVER GEARBOX Combinations with part-turn gearboxes with base and lever If due to a lack of space, valves such as butterfly valves can only be operated via a lever arrangement. For higher torque requirements, the multi-turn actuators SA can be combined with a part-turn gearbox with base and lever. The gearboxes are based on the worm gearboxes GS, which can be converted by mounting base and lever. Since this can also be done afterwards, this results in considerable advantages in stock-keeping.
