Did you know that Lithuania is associated with nine startups valued at over €1 billion, also known as unicorns?🦄 Over the past few years, our startup ecosystem has rapidly expanded, giving rise to several global success stories. Names like Vinted, Nord Security, Baltic Classifieds Group (BCG), and Flo Health Inc. are putting Lithuania on the international map. 👏 And that's only the tip of the iceberg! Companies like KAYAK, Revolut, Mambu, Unity, and Wargaming have strong ties to Lithuania, too. These businesses not only boost our economy, but also create well-paid jobs and nurture new talent that could drive future innovation themselves. We’re incredibly proud of our country's startup ecosystem, now valued at €13.7 billion—a sevenfold increase since 2018. 🌟 Discover more about our unicorns and the startup ecosystem in the Baltic Deep Tech report, crafted by Iron Wolf Capital and partners: https://bit.ly/4dw8fgX 📌 For further details, visit: https://shorturl.at/FCCuX

It is not enough for emerging ecosystems to have support from government innovation and other agencies. In order for startups in those ecosystems to flourish, there have to be "chief of staff" equivalents in those agencies who can bypass chains of command, work the systems, and have the authority to move things quickly. The best examples I have seen involved elected or appointed public servants and serial entrepreneurs on "sabbaticals," shaking things up in those agencies. Think of them as "ecosystem honeybadgers" constantly looking for ways to move things ahead and find ways around impediments. All of it under a single mission - to create wins for the ecosystem and be the tide that raises all boats. This is how I envision the next stage in the development of Lithuania's startup ecosystem. We have to be feisty, nimble, and collaborative to become relevant members of the global startup ecosystem. And we also have to make many friends globally by being their go-to resource when opportunities or problems to solve arise.
