Flexing our engineering muscles! Our team was engaged to tackle a challenging project in Queensland, designing and constructing 14 innovative expansion joints. We liaised with our supply partner and with the design consultant on creating Flex-Tend double ball joint expansion joint fittings. The EBAA Flex Tends are able to protect the pipeline systems from the stresses produced by large bridge movement, seismic activity and ground movement. Due to the design of the seals, no periodic maintenance is required. #hygradewater #flexiblepipelines #flexibleexpansion #seismicresilience

Effective Tunnel Joint Repair for KVMRT System Using MC-Injekt GL 95 TX A leakage was identified in the segment joint tunnel of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) system, necessitating repairs using MC-Injekt GL 95 TX. This advanced acrylic-based hydrogel sealant is highly effective for filling cracks, construction joints, expansion joints, and cavities in damp concrete and masonry. Its low viscosity ensures excellent injectability, while its controllable reaction time and high elasticity provide reliable waterproofing and long-term durability. The KVMRT Line 1 spans 51 km, including 9.5 km of underground tunnels and 41.5 km of elevated tracks, while Line 2 covers 57.7 km, with 13.5 km underground and 44.2 km elevated. The use of MC-Injekt GL 95 TX will reinforce the structural integrity and enhance the resilience of this vital transit infrastructure. Do you know these types of Pipeline Expansion Joints and their #advantages? Expansion Joints available in a wide variety of designs and types. Here, we listed the main advantages of certain designs/𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬, 👷🏽Axial Expansion Joints: • Simple solution for compensation of temperature fluctuations • No change in the flow direction • Compact, space saving and relatively low-cost solution 👷🏽Lateral Expansion Joints: • Absorb movements in all lateral directions • Absorption of large lateral movements with only one Lateral Expansion Joint • Reduced loads on all fix points as the tie rods absorb the loads without transferring pressure thrust on to the fix points 👷🏽Angular Expansion Joints: • Absorb angular movements in single or multi plane • Use of normal guides • Reduced loads on all fix points 👷🏽Universal Expansion Joints: • Absorb movements in all directions • Absorption of large axial movements and lateral movements in one Pipeline Expansion Joint • Can be modified to suit existing installation gap. Moreover, you can read more about #Pipeline Expansion Joints and their advantages here: https://bit.ly/3PhS7od Belman is an industry leader providing Expansion Joint solutions within many different industries worldwide. #Engineeringguide

Crosshole Sonic Method (CSL) GRL Engineers assess the concrete integrity of a drilled shaft using crosshole sonic (CSL) method. After the concrete has been poured, the probes are lowered into the shaft, and pulled simultaneously to scan the length of the shaft. WATCH: https://hubs.la/Q02TZLlZ0 #GRLEngineers #CSL

Maintenance Challenges in Bridges: The Art of Bearing Replacement Structural bearings serve as vital components within structures, especially in bridges, establishing a load-bearing link between the superstructure and substructure while accommodating necessary movements. Given that the lifespan of bearings is shorter than that of the entire structure, routine replacement becomes a crucial aspect of bridge maintenance. However, this task presents challenges, as not all bridges are designed for convenient maintenance, lacking detailed provisions for replacement. The effectiveness of the entire operation hinges on a strategic integration of methods, access points, and specialized equipment. The video, by Unloop Filmes for VSL International Ltd. show an example of bearing replacement process. Let's never forget the importance of maintenance! #structuralengineering #civilengineering #bridge
