Submarine Duty can be incredibly challenging at times…and then there are moments like this that are divine and priceless! Many don’t realize that the submarine warfare insignia, our hard-earned badge that distinguishes and identifies our tribe of “qualified submariners”, is referred to as dolphins. I still remember having to memorize this insignia at OCS: It was a bow view of a submarine, proceeding on the surface, with bow planes rigged for diving, flanked by dolphins in a horizontal position with their heads resting on the upper edge of the bow planes.
