'A question came in regarding "SpiderMills" powering small remote communities. The confusion is that virtually all AWES being promoted are small-scale (~1-100kW) but Kite Networks are intended for GW-scale, to power the world. There used to be several GW-scale concepts active, starting with Wubbo's LadderMill, then Beaujean's vast Spin-Canopy, Massimos's Carousel, NTS oval track, and so on. It is a serious problem, that various ventures are failing to scale up as hoped, by overlooking MSE scaling law limits, so they promote AWE a small scale, with very poor prospects given non-existent markets for fussy sub-optimal AWES. This causes investors and decision-makers to wrongly suppose AWE does not scale. AWE truly can scale as many single-skin sails set in networks. Kite Networks are GW-scale solutions. Current prototypes and operational research are "toy-scale".
