Having an elevator pitch ready for our annual Bellevue College Networking & Job fair this Wednesday, May 8th, will ensure you maximize your time with each employer! 1. Start by introducing yourself. "Hello my name is _______, and I am a student at Bellevue College." 2. Next, provide your educational background. "I am currently studying _____," or "I have a degree in _____." 3. It is important that you are upfront with your objectives. "I am seeking a job or internship in ______." Include the position or industry that you are seeking. 4. Aside from your background, it is also important to provide employers with relevant skills and strengths. "I am skilled at_____." Remember to include skills that would be relevant to the position you are seeking. 5. Now, provide employers with the opportunity to tell YOU what they offer. "What opportunities are available?" Remember, this is just the foundation to build your elevator pitch. Personalize and adapt your pitch based on the situation! 🔗Learn more about the employers attending and some job fair tips here: https://lnkd.in/gbgCryZG Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity! It's that time of year again! But what would our Welcome Fair look like if it were for local businesses? 🤔💡 No doubt, our award-winning Uni Kent Careers team would have a stand front-and-centre for those looking to hire our graduates, offer a placement or attend a careers fair. Kathy Moulton or Matt Cook might even offer you a chocolate if you're lucky! 🍫 Carry on to the next stall and you'll find James Lamprell, Jack S and Kate Austen ready to discuss the funding available for businesses to collaborate with Kent researchers on innovation projects. Or perhaps you want to find out more about Knowledge Transfer Partnerships - in which case Clare Witcher and Charlotte Siliafis's stall should be your point of call. 💸 Interested in hiring an apprentice or becoming one yourself? The Kent GRC Apprenticeships team's Betty Rose Johnson and Jess Hayward CertRP can help. They will be excited to tell you about their new Digital Technology Solutions Professional apprenticeship, as well as point you in the direction of other professional development options, such as the AI in Business: Challenges and Potential short course. 👩🎓 And don't forget to stop by University of Kent Conferences and Events for a sample of gluten free brownie and a chat about the incredible range of event spaces and facilities available to hire for everything from Christmas parties to international motorbiking rallies. 🎄 Who else would you expect to meet at a business Welcome Fair? #WelcomeToKent #business #collaboration

Calling out to employers in the Scarborough, Whitby and Filey areas... North Yorkshire Council and the York & North Yorkshire Career Hub invites you to a special event on 5th June 2024 at the Scarborough Rugby Club. This is an opportunity to meet young people from local schools who have special educational needs or disability (SEND) who have an aspiration for paid employment, school careers staff and representative from supported employment providers. Why attend? The overwhelming majority of young people with SEND want to be in paid employment, but statistics show that they are significantly less likely to be in work and, on average, have much lower earnings long-term than their counterparts. At the same time, employers are looking to secure their talent pipelines and recruit individuals with the right skills and attitudes to become valuable employees. By engaging with young people with SEND you could be accessing a valuable pool of untapped talent. What are we asking from you? The event will be split into three sessions, and you are invited to attend any or all of them… 08:15 – 09:00 Employer Business Breakfast – Come and find out about and/or expand your understanding of Supported Employment and learn more about opening your workplace to inclusive recruitment. 09:15– 10:15 Jobs Fair – A chance to meet students currently undertaking Supported Internships. 10:30 – 14:30 Careers Fair – We are looking for employers to host interactive careers stands, which will promote opportunities (including work experience, internships, volunteering as well as paid employment) in your business/sector to young people with SEND and staff from local schools. We ask that you bring along a simple activity or something that showcases the skills needed to work in your sector. To register, go to: https://lnkd.in/emxEBkpE

🌟 Yesterday, the iCan Career Fair gave our team a chance to connect with local young people, parents, and carers, helping to navigate the exciting (and sometimes challenging) transition from school to further education or employment. 💡 What the Event Was About Designed to support young people in East Sussex facing barriers to employment, this inclusive event provided tailored guidance to explore career paths, training programs, and accessible opportunities. 💼 At Roadways, we take pride in supporting initiatives like these. Here's how we contributed: 1️⃣ Showcasing Opportunities: Our team shared career paths, apprenticeships, and supported employment options, highlighting how anyone can thrive in the highways industry with the right support. 2️⃣ Interactive Minecraft Sessions: Alan and I conducted fun, hands-on sessions that engaged attendees and brought our industry to life in a creative and accessible way. 3️⃣ PPE Booth: We showcased the tools of the trade and the importance of safety in the workplace—an essential aspect of any career in highways. 💬 "We believe in creating opportunities for everyone, regardless of the challenges they face. Events like iCan are crucial in bridging the gap between education and employment." While attendance was lower than anticipated, the engagement and enthusiasm of those who attended made it all worthwhile. Roadways is proud to be part of a community dedicated to empowering young people to explore their potential. Thank you to the organisers, attendees, and everyone who stopped by our stands. Let’s continue building a future where every young person feels supported and inspired to take the next step! #CareersWithPurpose #InclusivityMatters #YouthEmpowerment #ICanCareerFair #RoadwaysCareers #CommunityEngagement #BridgingTheGap #FutureReady #Apprenticeships #TrainingOpportunities East Sussex County Council #eastsussex

Just received this heartwarming message from a sweet girl a few days ago. It really made my day! 🌟 Reflecting on her message, I want to share some advice with anyone still in university: never miss out on any opportunity you get. Start by joining clubs and extracurricular activities—they are more valuable than you might realize. Joining these groups not only helps you build essential skills but can also expand your network in ways that can be incredibly beneficial for your future. Always try to participate in university events by applying as an usher, or get involved in SCAD events such as the Employment Fair. These roles offer hands-on experience and teach you how to interact with a diverse range of people and handle crisis. You'll learn events management, communication skills, and how to be part of a team, all while making valuable connections. Beyond the skills you gain, the people you meet through these activities can have a lasting impact on your life, and will become your closest friends. Remember that every experience counts. So seize every opportunity as you never know where it might lead you. #UniversityLife #CareerAdvice #Networking #ExtracurricularActivities #PersonalGrowth #Inspiration #GUC #CareerOpportunities

"Your platform is really sick!" said a Northumbria Uni grad student today - well we could not say it better ourselves! We spoke to hundreds of students, graduates, potential interns and masters grads all ready for early careers roles across the UK. Other things we heard from the Northumbria Graduate Futures careers fair today about Day One was: "So can be matched to jobs based on my skills? Amazing - I am not 100% on my career destination so this gives me loads of options" "I love that I will be looked at on what I can bring an employer and nothing else" "I am applying for so many jobs and hearing nothing- just being ghosted all the time. It's so hard to have a CV that is a true reflection of what I can bring- am getting on this platform tonight to show what I am about!" Fantastic day- huge thanks to Northumbria Graduate Futures Northumbria University for having Ella Doyle and Sian Wilson as part of your day #EarlyCareers #ITCareers #TechCareers #BusinessCareers #FinanceCareers #HireBetter #Gradjobs
