👨💻Meet Alfredo Duarte, UI / UX Designer at Lemu 🌍 Alfredo is behind the scenes of creating a better experience for those who want to protect Earth through Lemu 🌱 He is part of the Operations team and is in charge of creating prototypes and final designs to support the development of Lemu’s products. What’s his secret? 🤔 “My role is fueled by the abilities to boost the empathy with users and also technical knowledge”. Alfredo knows that the impact of his work goes beyond tech product development. “My job at Lemu allows me to take care of our planet's biodiversity.” 🐅 When he says “teamwork”, he really means it. Since the design has to solve problems, there’s one thing that’s mandatory for Alfredo: “It’s key to get knowledge and perspectives from others to find the best solution but also to grow professionally and personally” 🤝. One year ago, when he joined Lemu, he was also going through the major change of leaving his native country of Chile, and he found a curious likeness. “When I joined Lemu I was close to moving to Barcelona, there are many things in common between the cycles of a startup’s life and leaving your country, these similarities allowed me to better handle things such as uncertainty, let go of ideas that you like a lot, and learn to trust the processes.” 💚 🔜 What’s next for Alfredo? He and his team are about to test all the work they’ve been doing lately with the support of numerous areas of Lemu. “It’s really an adrenaline rush seeing in the real world what works and what doesn’t, what needs to be corrected and what needs to be thrown away. Some of our ideas and hypothesis might be dismantled, but is ultimately what will allows us to refine our vision.” Want to become a Lemuche as well? Follow us for updates! #MeetALemuche #CareerGrowth #LemuCulture

I attended my second UXCamp today, this time UXCamp Hamburg, and I enjoyed it very much as it gave me plenty of new inspiration. Along with my dearest colleagues Katja Volk and Friederike Schwenck of course. I particularly enjoyed the presentation by Nono Weinzierl on the topic of real-world prototypes. It soon became clear how important it is to consider the entire experience, and to test both performance and desirability in certain, most realistic environments. There are many different factors, such as sensory, psychological, given rules, location and more, which affect the user's constitution during their interaction with a system. For instance: A tool for sailing route planning that is technically well designed can cause major challenges for the user in reality. Especially in stormy weather, at night on a rocking boat. Key takeaway: Do on-site testing! Thanks for the amazing event and everyone involved. #uxcamphh

Had such a great time tonight at NUX's September event in Leeds. Great location provided by Hippo right next to the bar. Very glad to meet a lot of brilliant minds! Most of all, the two talks tonight were very inspiring to me as a younger UXer trying to find my position in the industry. Paul Bailey presented an amazing story about how he as a four kids' dad tried to apply design thinking and methods to solving some of his parenting pain points and later on scaling it through the Design Thinking Dad project helping the next generation to be more creative in problem-solving. I think this approach is really interesting as it blurs the boundary between UX as a skill set for work and UX as a way of problem-solving and creative thinking in everyday life. I can never forget the example of the kids came up with the idea of using dots to mark the way to school to make the journey more like an adventure. That's the design solution a professional "designer" might never think of. If we as UX professionals already have the knowledge and tools, why don't we try to use them in daily life and be creative and fun? Daryn Hobden's talk gave me so much valuable advice I could ask for as a younger UXer and he delivered it in such a funny and relaxed way. I love the story of how he has learned and kept the resilience and spirit when facing problems and hardships from his childhood. And the "You can control your next step" advice over things you don't have control of. I guess that's the spirit I need now to keep going with job seeking. I can't control the job market but I do have control of my actions to be more proactive, more resilient, and more creative. I also resonate with his approach to being creative. If there is no curiosity toward the unknown, no exploration toward the dark, no hard work toward learning, collecting, reading, inputting etc, there won't be the spark of creativity or inspiration just falling down from the sky. Just want to say thank you all for the night! Big Thanks to Northern User Experience, Hippo, ideasmiths to make this possible. (Nearly forgot, the pizza 🍕 was delicious haha!) Looking forward to connecting with more UXers and having more interesting conversations. 😊 #NUXUK #Northernuserexperience #UX #Hippo #ideasmiths #designthinking #designtalks

»2021 felt like a gold rush for UX roles, but now, it’s a whole new game.« 🎙️I recently sat down with Katrin Suetterlin for an upcoming episode of UX Heroes to discuss the evolving UX job market. Here’s a glimpse into her journey: Katrin’s career took off during the UX boom of 2021. She received 20 interview invitations within weeks, an experience that left her exhilarated but also exhausted. During this time, she joined WeFox, where she was the sole UX writer, working closely with the CMO and project managers. It was a dynamic, fast-paced environment typical of a Berlin startup. However, the tides soon changed… The funding dried up, and the company had to downsize, leaving Katrin and many others looking for new opportunities. Suddenly, the job market wasn’t as welcoming. The demand for UX roles had decreased, and competition was fiercer than ever. Determined to stay ahead, Katrin embraced versatility and was ocusing on delivering measurable business value. This adaptability led her to a new role at SIXT, where she now works on integrating UX strategies with business goals, ensuring her work has a tangible impact. Stay tuned for the full episode to hear more about her insights and tips for thriving in today’s UX landscape. #UXDesign #JobMarket #CareerAdvice #Adaptability #AIInUX #EmpathyInDesign #UXHeroes

EMBRACING THE FUN IN LEARNING: MY UI/UX JOURNEY. Excited to share my journey diving into HerTechTrail UI/UX Cohort 9! The very first class set the tone - the energy from the design track was infectious! Reflecting on that initial UI/UX class, I'm reminded of one of my favorite principles: 'The Law of Simplicity' in UI/UX design. It's all about making things clear and intuitive for users. Huge shout-out to Ayomide Adekoya and Claire Igwe for their incredible coaching, making complex concepts feel like a breeze. This principle isn't just a theory; it's deeply ingrained in my learning journey. The simplicity in design interfaces keeps me engaged and coming back for more. I look forward to creating soothing experience for users. Let's embrace simplicity, keep those spirits high, and stay focused on the prize! Here's to embracing simplicity and fostering continuous growth! #UIUX #DesignPrinciples #LearningJourney #HerTechTrail #growth
