🌿 Our commitment to sustainability is yielding significant results. In 2023, our Scope 1 and 2 emissions were 91% lower than in 2019, driven by our transition to #RenewableElectricity. Over 96% of our energy now comes from renewable sources. Every year on the 5th June we acknowledge World Environment Day, a United Nations initiative encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. In many ways every day is World Environment Day here at EV Wales, yet amongst our regular renewable energy system supply, installation and consultancy it's easy to become focused on the what rather than the why. Australia is on the cusp of a once-in-a-generation transformation as our energy systems shift to clean, renewable forms of power. First Nations peoples, the original custodians of this land, must be central to – and benefit from – this transition. Australia has pledged to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Of the renewable energy infrastructure needed to achieve this, about half will be developed on First Nations land. That’s Professor Heidi Norman talking, a steering group member of the First Nations Clean Energy Network, and Convenor: Indigenous Land & Justice Research Group, UNSW. Heidi is talking about the federal government’s new First Nations Clean Energy Strategy just launched. The government has committed A$70 million to help realise its aims. Heidi says, 'I was part of a committee that helped guide the government on the Strategy. 'It involved more than a year of consultation with First Nations communities across Australia, plus input from industry and state and territory governments.
