🌬️ Look what the wind blew in – statistics from Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) show that over half of electricity production in the Netherlands now comes from renewable sources, marking the seventh month this year that renewable energy produced more than fossil fuels. 🍃 A combination of strong winds and a significant increase in offshore wind turbines led to a doubling of wind energy production last month leading to a 23% increase compared to September last year. ☀️ And it’s not just the wind turbines. Due to the growing number of solar panels, solar panel production grew more than 7%. Overall this is a key milestone representing a strategic move to reduce fossil fuel reliance, as well as supporting climate commitments on both a national and European level. 🏙️ Amsterdam continues to lead in the energy transition, with half of its rooftops covered in solar panels and home to one of the most sustainable ports in the EU, demonstrating its commitment to addressing environmental challenges and fostering a sustainable future. 🔗 Find out how key facts and figures about what Amsterdam is doing to combat climate change here: https://lnkd.in/e95P3Ve2 #SustainableAmsterdam #GreenEnergy #GreenAmsterdam #EnergyTransition

Every year on the 5th June we acknowledge World Environment Day, a United Nations initiative encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. In many ways every day is World Environment Day here at EV Wales, yet amongst our regular renewable energy system supply, installation and consultancy it's easy to become focused on the what rather than the why. It's always a stark reminder to truly reflect on why we do what we do and the reason that action is so vital. Let's all take a moment to consider what we can do to help the world around us; it may seem small but if we all take time to reflect on this regularly we truly believe we can make the world a better place. If you wish to discuss how we can help your business reduce its carbon footprint and benefit in a number of other ways please contact our friendly team who will be more than happy to help. #worldenvirontmentday #environment #climatechange #carbonfootprint #renewableenergy #renewables #solar #batteries #sustainable #sustainability #climateaction #climateemergency #climatecrisis

Australia is on the cusp of a once-in-a-generation transformation as our energy systems shift to clean, renewable forms of power. First Nations peoples, the original custodians of this land, must be central to – and benefit from – this transition. Australia has pledged to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Of the renewable energy infrastructure needed to achieve this, about half will be developed on First Nations land. That’s Professor Heidi Norman talking, a steering group member of the First Nations Clean Energy Network, and Convenor: Indigenous Land & Justice Research Group, UNSW. Heidi is talking about the federal government’s new First Nations Clean Energy Strategy just launched. The government has committed A$70 million to help realise its aims. Heidi says, 'I was part of a committee that helped guide the government on the Strategy. 'It involved more than a year of consultation with First Nations communities across Australia, plus input from industry and state and territory governments. 'Australia’s renewable energy transition must be on their terms. 'The Strategy released today will guide this process.' You can access the First Nations Clean Energy Strategy in the comments. Thanks to The Conversation Australia + NZ for publishing this! You can access Heidi’s article in the comments.
