🔹 A new surgical technology is transforming the way wound infections are managed, using a portable autofluorescence imaging device that can detect bacteria invisible to the human eye, “illuminating” them in different colors for easy identification. This advancement not only enables more targeted and efficient wound treatment but also reduces the need for antibiotics by allowing the removal of bacteria before an infection takes hold. As this technology becomes integrated into medical practice, it could transform wound care, particularly for chronic wounds like diabetic ulcers. Find out more about this breakthrough here👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/dCPG4fMZ #techtitute #Medicine #Surgery #Treatment #MedicalAdvancement

Individuals with ocular symptoms who recover from COVID-19 may experience long-term corneal endothelial cell alterations that include changes in cellular density and morphology, according to a retrospective investigation published in Cornea : The Journal of Cornea and External Diseases (Cornea Society). This finding suggests that patients who undergo corneal graft surgery may be at an increased risk for donor rejection or endothelial decompensation, according to the report. Delighted to share our recent publication in the Annals of Vascular Surgery! 🔍 Title: "The Management of Aneurysmal Degeneration of Lower Extremity Cryopreserved Saphenous Vein Bypass Grafts" 🔬 Our case series explores the open and endovascular approaches to managing aneurysmal degeneration in cryopreserved saphenous vein grafts for lower extremity bypass. 🔑 Key Findings: 10% of grafts developed aneurysmal degeneration 87% limb salvage rate Patency rates: 6 months - 79%, 1 year - 65%, 3 years - 54% Management: 81% open surgery; 18% endovascular techniques via covered stenting 📚 This study highlights the critical need for ongoing monitoring in patients with cryopreserved saphenous vein grafts and that aneurysmal degeneration of CSV allografts are not limited to infectious etiologies.
