Climate change🌱🌍 is the defining issue of our generation, and I'm committed to making a positive impact. That's why I'm thrilled to announce that I have been selected and have joined the Young African Leaders Initiative YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa -Cohort 19 program specifically focusing on Public Management and Governance. This prestigious program offers a unique opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to address climate challenges through effective policy and leadership. By learning alongside fellow African changemakers, I'll gain valuable insights into sustainable development practices and public administration strategies specifically designed for our continent's context. I believe this program will equip me with the tools to: ¶Craft and implement impactful climate change policies: YALI's focus on Public Management and Governance will provide a strong foundation for understanding policy development and implementation. This will allow me to advocate for and enact real change on a local and regional level. ¶Strengthen leadership capabilities: Effective leadership is central to tackling complex issues like climate change. The program will hone my leadership skills, enabling me to inspire and collaborate with others to create a more sustainable future. ¶Build a powerful network of African leaders: YALI fosters connections with a diverse range of passionate individuals working on climate change across Africa. This network will be invaluable for sharing knowledge, collaborating on solutions, and driving collective action. Looking forward to this program that will be a transformative step in my journey to make a difference in the fight against climate change. #YALI #ClimateAction🌱🌍🌍#PublicPolicy #Africa #LeadershipDevelopment

"Our ability to make a greater impact increases exponentially when we embrace public-private partnerships. Together with various partners, we must ask ourselves pertinent questions: What problems do we want to solve? How can we jointly develop sustainable solutions for our communities? What is everyone's stake in this? There is so much social innovation and so many opportunities to celebrate in Africa. The potential for solutions is extraordinary, but this potential can only be harnessed if we fully embrace partnerships. Most importantly, we must lead with impact and support our work with evidence. When you can change somebody's life as an individual, you have achieved the best kind of impact. But this is not enough; systems strengthening to guarantee systemic change is essential for sustainable progress. By working with various stakeholders to build resilient systems, we ensure that the positive changes are not only impactful but also enduring and scalable." Karen Hanrahan, ChildFund International Chief Global Impact and Innovation Officer, addressing participants at the ongoing Africa Leadership Team meeting in Addis Ababa. #partnerships #impact #innovation #leadership

We're excited to kick off a new cohort of our UNDP leadership certificate -- this time connecting colleagues across the UN -- to build capabilities and community for advancing more relationship-centric and awareness-based approaches to #systemschange . With today's increasing polarization and compounding crises, we see manifold signs that our technical and technological innovations can only go so far without fundamental shifts at the level of culture, consciousness and relationships. As we continue to expand our community of learning on this topic, let us know where your interests lie: bit.ly/49UTQJ3
🌎 How do we reimagine cooperation in a polarized world? 💡 This is the focus of UNDP’s forthcoming Human Development Report – and anchors our inquiry through the 2024 leadership cohort on awareness-based #systems transformation. 📍 We’re delighted to connect leaders from UNDP and across 21 United Nations entities who envisaged the Secretary General’s UN 2.0 | United Nations ambition. 📍 We know many of you are reimagining #community, #culture and #mindsets that foster emergence of solutions rooted in solidarity, learning and collective action. 👉We hope to build an exchange of ideas, experience and impact with those leading in different ways. The 2030 Agenda for sustainable development provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet currently and into the future. It's implementation, however, seems to experience enormous challenges stemming from the breed of leadership and leaders we have in our countries. I believe the youth should purpose to change this narrative by working towards providing a different breed of leadership and be more intentional in achieving the goals for the future. It is possible. #AIIDEV Africa #SDGs.

At ASIS 2024, Oluwasoromidayo George, Board Chair of the UN Global Compact Network Nigeria, emphasized the critical role of empowering youth through strategic initiatives such as leadership development programs, mentorship, and industry-driven partnerships. By aligning these initiatives with key sectors and equipping young Nigerians with future-ready skills and high-impact networks, we can unlock their potential and drive innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development. The summit highlighted that addressing Nigeria’s complex challenges requires a multi-stakeholder approach, focusing on scalable and sustainable solutions that empower the next generation to lead with purpose and resilience. Strategic collaboration between the private sector, government, and civil society is essential to create lasting impact. #ASIS2024 #Partnerships #SustainableDevelopment

MAKING OUR OWN SIDE GREENER; THE LEADERSHIP WE NEED We often fall prey to the illusion that Africa is poor, the continent is forever broken beyond repairs and that happiness and fulfillment exist just beyond our reach. But what if, instead of constantly searching for greener pastures elsewhere, risking even our very own lives to the point of death, what if we channeled that energy into cultivating a more fertile and flourishing environment right here in Africa? By focusing on improvements and positive changes within our own situation in our leadership culture and styles, we might be surprised by the abundant potential that blossoms right before our eyes. The saying goes that "the grass is always greener on the other side." However, this perspective often overlooks the power we hold to transform our current reality into our desired reality. Instead of yearning for an idealized version of life that may or may not exist elsewhere, we we as can people must choose a more proactive approach. By actively nurturing and cultivating leaders and potentials of our populace, cultivate and nurture the positive aspects of our present circumstances, with this we can create a thriving and fulfilling space for ourselves, right here - the motherland. #theleadersdiary #endlessleadership #leadership #kingdomleadershipnetwork #OneAfrica #anewafrica #CreatingYourOwnGreenerPastures
