Today, we stand on the cusp of another historic milestone: Gaganyaan, India's first human space mission! This is a monumental achievement, marking India as the fourth nation in the world to launch a crewed spaceflight, following the footsteps of the Russia, US, and China. But this journey is more than just a giant leap for mankind. It's a testament to India's unwavering spirit of progress, a nation constantly pushing boundaries and rewriting its narrative. We celebrate: The four brave Indian Air Force pilots: Group Capt. Prashananth Balakrishna, Group Capt. Ajith Krishnan, Group Capt. Angad Pratap, and Wing Commander Shubhkamnayein Shukla. They've dedicated themselves to months of rigorous training, including experiencing microgravity, surviving in extreme environments, and enduring physical and mental stress. The dedication & talent of ISRO: India's space agency has been the driving force behind this incredible feat, showcasing the nation's scientific prowess and innovation. 🚀Space sustainability = game changer 😄Join us in Milan to learn about challenges, opportunities, initiatives and capacity building in space sustainability. Or submit an abstract today! 💡The main objectives of the Workshop are to: -Raise awareness of the various initiative to measure and predict the impact of space activities (spacecraft manufacturing, launch and re-entry) on the Earth environment; -Showcase changes in space engineering practices to reduce the carbon footprint of the space sector overall, with technical innovations for greener technologies, financing of innovations and regulatory incentives for their adoption; -Capacity building activities on space sustainability, especially from the perspective of new space faring countries and non-space faring countries keen to adopt best practices and preserve the sustainability of the space environment; -Share challenges and success stories to de-orbit spacecraft responsibly, such as technical de-orbiting methods and tools, to discuss what methods are the most effective; -Showcase success stories of technical coordination for space activities that have been impacting each other, such as astronomical observations and satellites operations, or activities of various nature on the surface of the Moon and Mars -Share information on innovative space-based applications and services contributing to environmental sustainability on Earth.

🏛️ Today, we celebrate the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬, established to promote awareness about the uniqueness and vulnerability of #CulturalHeritage and the efforts required to protect and preserve it. [GalaxySpaceNewsGH: GAG At The International Astronautical Congress Held In Milan, Italy] The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2024, in Milan Italy, was a monumental event as it marked the largest ever International Astronautical Congress ever held in history. Galaxy Aerospace Ghana was present at the congress and was represented by the Technical Engineer, Charles Dadzie. With more than 11, 200 delegates from 120 countries it is an unprecedented new record, making it not only the largest International Astronautical Congress but also one of the most diverse gatherings of space people across the world. Hosted by the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics, one of the founding members of the International Astronautical Federation, and co-hosted by the Italian Space Agency and Leonardo, the record breaking 75th IAC edition reached several historic heights, leaving an impressive legacy. During a personal project I had the opportunity to study the ISS and in doing so I became passionate about the space sector. It is thanks to the #ISS and ESA's #Rosetta Mission that I have embarked on this scientific career.

The International Space Station is humanity's home in space. The space station has been occupied since 2000, and today, more than 40% of the habitable volume of the Station is manufactured in Italy. Italy fabricated the Node-2 Harmony, the Node-3 Tranquility, and the Cupola and contributed to the Columbus European laboratory. With the launch of the Leonardo logistic module in March 2001, Italy became the third nation after Russia and the United States to orbit an ISS element. Sustainability, the motto of the IAC 2024, is one of the guiding principles of all activities on board the ISS.
