A happy belated IAESTE-Day to everyone! 🎂 IAESTE was founded on the 20th October 1948 and each year we celebrate the continuing work for international understanding and technical experiece! 🌍🌎🌏⚙🧪🔬💻 This year we want to shed a light on all the volunteers who do amazing work and shape IAESTE into the wonderful, inspiring and spirited association that it is! In Germany we work in a closely knitted network of local committees that are mostly student-run! 👨🏼🎓🏆 Last weekend we got together in Heidelberg with many of our volunteers for our annual national conference - to round up the last exchange year and start the new one, to see and talk to each other face to face and most importantly: to say THANK YOU! 💙 #IAESTEFamily #work #experience #discover

My dear colleague Satu Lähteenoja defended her doctoral thesis yesterday on title Advancing Sustainability Transformations: Co-design for Sustainable Development Policies. The defence itself was captivating - good television - thanks to the timely topic and clever opponent Per Mickwitz. Here are three (3) take-home points why the book is a good read for people actively dealing with sustainability transformation policies, practices and/or science. 🌱 First, pure existence of the thesis strengthens and legitimises many of the transformative research efforts. One can (and should) be critical about the level direct impact of knowledge co-production at the current times, but that is now more a question of how interaction is conducted rather than whether such processes are valid. 🍀 Second, Satu's thesis documents and discusses cases (especially article 5) of how co-productive research has been conducted in direct interaction with policy processes. This also opens up further avenues of building more critical roles for transformative policy evaluation through co-design. 🌳 Third, book provides an epistemological map on transition arena knowledge co-production methodologies. The intervowen literatures are well descriped and provide a clear reference point for future work from complementary perspectives. I wish all the best for Satu in the next phase of her professional life. Colleagues visiting #ist2024 next week at Oslo, can here a shorter version of the main findings on Governing transitions track, Tuesday at 16:30. The book is available here: https://lnkd.in/dUWGrRwz

📢Announcing the first two panel members📢 Understanding the concept of impact can be quite complex, as it is often perceived differently in #academic and #business contexts. This lack of connection frequently results in misunderstandings and missed #opportunities. Defining something often requires first figuring out what it is not. That is why we have chosen to investigate what does not constitute #impact. So, let's take a different perspective on this: What is not impact, how not to achieve impact. Join us for an engaging and interactive discussion at the “How not to achieve impact” event, organised by StartHub Wageningen. The first two panel members we will be joined by are: - Dr. Enrique Doblas Miranda from Creaf Barcelona - Prof. Dr. Vincent Blok from Wageningen University & Research Keep an eye out for the other panel members who will be announced throughout the week. Whether you're already working with impact or simply passionate about learning more, this event is for you. Our expert panel, consisting of professionals from various backgrounds and positions, will share their experiences and insights. Don't miss this opportunity to connect and define impact together. Unlocking the Full Potential of Danish-Swedish Life Science Collaboration! In ReproUnion, we've seen firsthand how breaking down national borders and embracing collaboration can drive innovation and create real, lasting impact in life science. For nearly three decades, the Øresund region has been a fertile ground for cross-border cooperation, with ReproUnion maximizing the opportunities at hand to further both Danish and Swedish ambitions. As we look to the future, it's clear that we need to take this collaboration to the next level. The new life science strategies offer a unique chance to strengthen our ties and hopefully secure more sustainable funding for collaboration. It’s time to remove the national blinders, embrace a shared vision, and push the boundaries of Danish-Swedish cooperation even further. This is not just about incremental progress—it's about harnessing our full potential as one of Europe's strongest life science regions. Let's take that bold step forward together.
