🚁 Flying taxis might be here before the decade ends! Archer Aviation, the California-based eVTOL startup, just raised USD 175 Million. Combined with the USD 55 million raised from Stellantis earlier in July 2024, this raise brings the total funding since July to USD 230 million. Archer has also recently secured a ~USD 580M order from Future Flight Global. With partnerships in place for air taxi networks in California and San Francisco, urban air travel is on the horizon. Aviation tech startup Moonware has completed a seed round that raised $7 million to automate airport ground operations. This funding round came shortly after the company successfully implemented its product at airports in Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK). ✈️ Airports worldwide must regularly deal with disruptions like flight delays and cancellations amid rapidly growing passenger traffic. This problem occurs due to the inability of existing operational systems to meet modern demand. ✈️ Moonware aims to solve this problem through HALO, an AI-powered software combining various ground operations aspects into a single platform. HALO simplifies airline operations since one platform increases awareness and operational efficiency. ✈️ British Airways and dnata at JFK and AeroCharter USA at LAX are the first two customers to incorporate HALO into their operations. HALO can deliver faster turnarounds, reduce delays, and increase flight throughput. ✈️ Moonware CEO Javier Vidal noted that aviation ground operations require technological transformation to remain efficient and innovative. The company’s CTO, Saunon Malekshahi, added that Moonware expects rapid growth in the coming years. ✈️ Third Prime and Zero Infinity Partners were the main investors in the seed round, with The House Fund, Lorimer Ventures, and private investors also participating.
