🌱🍴 Embracing Reusable Packaging: A Sustainable Shift for Companies 🔄 In a world increasingly conscious of the impact we have on the environment, the move from single-use to reusable packaging is not just a trend—it's a necessity. Here's why: 📑 Regulatory Landscape: With regulations tightening globally, such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWR) in the EU, companies face mounting pressure to adopt sustainable practices or face penalties. 💰 Cost Savings: While initial investments may seem large, the long-term savings from reusable packaging are significant. By eliminating the need for constant new of single-use items, companies can reduce procurement costs and waste management expenses. ♻ Zero Waste Goals: Reusable packaging aligns perfectly with the zero waste movement, minimizing the volume of waste sent to landfills. Single-use packaging gone astray is also one of the main causes to pollution in city areas! 🌱 Reduced CO2 Emissions: The production and disposal of single-use packaging contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. By opting for reusable alternatives, companies can significantly reduce their carbon footprint. 🥗 Enhanced Customer Experience: Reusable packaging isn't just about sustainability—it also offers practical benefits. Sturdier materials provide better protection for products, ensuring they arrive intact and fresh! AION sees this as an opportunity to also re-introduce our Reusable Bowls, that are made in Norway, and has a return-scheme on all bowls - resulting in a sustainable option. And with data-tracking of the numbers of re-uses with great partners such as Vytal Norge we can together realize these benefits on a large scale! 🌍♻️ #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #ReusablePackaging #ClimateAction #PPWR #takeaway Foto: Håndbakt Oslo

When it was announced that the final session of negotiations for a #GlobalPlasticTreaty would take place in #Asia, we knew it would be a pivotal opportunity to showcase that scalable solutions to minimize plastic pollution exist in this region, as much as they do in western nations. Over the last four months, we’ve engaged with and interviewed numerous reuse entrepreneurs, grassroots organizations, and visionary leaders and here's what we unpacked about #ReuseSystems in Asia 🟢 We need to recognize that both return and refill solutions have a role in the larger reuse systems and adoption varying based on the context ( Eg: It's easier to establish refill in challenging geographic terrains like islands and mountains) 🟢 For both refill and return systems to function, we need shared infrastructure and collaboration across the entire supply chain and ensure that vulnerable groups like #wastepickers, #street vendors and other workers who are part of the lifecycle of plastic, are recognized and supported to adapt to the new system 🟢 Unless we don't have strong policy instruments with ambitious return and refill targets for producers, supported by infrastructure and financing, reuse systems would not scale. Well it saddens me that I couldn't be with my colleagues in #Busan to witness the launch of this report, but hopefully the report will underscore the urgent need for a strong, legally binding global plastics treaty that goes beyond plastic waste management. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks as I dive into unpacking this 80-page report, sharing my key insights and takeaways. 📒 There's a lot to explore, and I can't wait to bring you along for the journey! 🚀 Link of the report in the comments #PlasticTreaty #ReuseRevolution #AsiaReuseConsortium Pinky Chandran| Rahyang Nusantara, S.P., M.I.Kom, MIPR| Sherma Benosa|Marian Frances Ledesma| Salman Tariq| Rolph Droste| Rajneesh Kumar Patel| Salisa Traipipitsiriwat| Swietenia Puspa Lestari| Marcy Trent Long | Marwan Abubaker| Shashwat Gangwal| Purav Desai| Lokesh Sambhwani | Kelvin Tsui Bintang Ekananda | Darina Maulana | Nanda Yoga | Taylor Cass Talbott | Ame Trandem |Tiza Mafira |Seema Prabhu |Von Hernandez | Nandini Kumar Zoë Lenkiewicz | Amy Larkin | Joan Marc Simon | Neil Tangri Antaya March |Esra Tat | Doun Moon |Sydney Harris | Miriam Gordon Julia Cohen MPH | Siddharth Ghanshyam Singh | Melissa Jung | Piotr Barczak | Plasticdiet Indonesia InfinityBox Cupable

ZERO WASTE STRATEGY AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY From 18th to 20th November 2024, a delegation composed of 9 representatives of the provincial table of the Trentino solidarity economy together with other representatives of the network visited the Municipality of Capannori to learn about the numerous initiatives promoted in the field of the circular economy and the zero waste strategy. During the first day, the Science Park of the Municipality of Capannori was visited, which manages research services related to the sustainable use of materials and the promotion of environmental sustainability towards the zero waste circular economy. The second day was dedicated to the visit of the Zero Waste Center which works on environmental education and sustainability. Furthermore, some cooperatives were visited that deal with giving a second life to products that would otherwise end up in landfill. Finally, a district of companies in the fashion-footwear sector was visited, which thanks to the recovery of processing waste and the zero waste strategy have created a real environmental sustainability of the products, reducing waste and production costs. Finally, the third day was dedicated to the food plain and the food click project which aims at food education, access to food and the short supply chain. Significant realities of this initiative were visited such as the in-house company of the Municipality of Capannori which deals with public catering with local and quality products, a social oil mill and finally an association that deals with the barter of second-hand objects. In these 3 days of visit, a very innovative and original example of public-private partnership implemented by the Municipality of Capannori was shown and above all a circular economy strategy with important repercussions in the public sector, profit and non-profit, associations and research in full application of the European model of the quadruple helix. #cooperationiscentral #madewithinterreg #Interreg #SocialSolidarityEconomy #3P4SSE Con: Trentino Social Tank - Social and Solidarity Economy - CentralEurope Network, Euricse, LINKS Foundation – Leading Innovation & Knowledge for Society- PRIZMA - Fundacija za izboljšanje zaposlitvenih možnosti - Pannon Business Network - RRA Podravje - Maribor - Splitsko-dalmatinska županija - alda* - European Association for Local Democracy - National Foundation for Civil Society Development - Cooperazione Trentina - Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme -
