Dear Midland Businesses, Today is the close of applications for TEDxTamworth, what we need now are local businesses from across the Midlands to step up and help us put on a successful event (March 2025) by sponsoring the TEDx event, even with the smallest donation/contribution. For those who don't know what TEDx Talk events are, they local events that bring the spirit of TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) to communities around the globe. Modelled after the TED format, these events consist of a series of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations, and performances on a wide range of subjects. There will be a limited number of tickets available (due to the rules specified by TEDx, however the event will be livestreamed globally). We now have a rough estimate of £30,000 to stage TEDxTamworth, so the maths are simple. We either need 300 companies to sponsor us £100 each, or 30 companies to donate £1,000 (or various combinations in between). This is a not-for-profit event - we have a venue, so everything else goes towards hosting the event and showcasing the speakers. Having just recently attended The Midlands Business Network Ltd and the Veseyans Rugby Business Lunch (last Friday), both of which hosted events championing great local businesses, I'm convinced that we have many great companies who would be prepared to sponsor TEDxTamworth. If you can help, or would like to know more about please click on the TEDx link or contact me direct via LinkedIn. From Niche to Global Phenomenon: How TEDx Redefined the Power of Ideas TED’s story is a testament to how perseverance can turn something seemingly unremarkable into a global phenomenon. Founded by Richard Saul Wurman and Harry Marks in 1984, TED started as a unique blend of Technology, Entertainment, and Design—three fields that don’t naturally collide, but in their intersection, magic happens. Wurman, an architect and pioneer in “information architecture,” had a passion for making complex ideas understandable. Marks, with his television production background, added a flair for storytelling, creating a visually engaging and compelling format. Though its early years didn’t immediately capture massive attention, Chris Anderson, an entrepreneur and media mogul, saw its potential. In 2001, through his Sapling Foundation, Anderson acquired TED and transformed it into a nonprofit dedicated to spreading knowledge freely and globally. His vision was simple but powerful: ideas worth sharing should be accessible to everyone, not just a select few in elite circles. The Sapling Foundation, founded by Anderson in 1996, was built on the principle of using technology and knowledge for social good. This aligned perfectly with TED’s mission. Anderson’s leadership allowed TED to grow from a conference into a global platform, with funding primarily driven by sponsorships, ticket sales, and donations. However, the real revolution came with the launch of TEDx in 2009—independently organized, community-driven events that put the power of ideas in the hands of local organizers. Today, TEDx events are held in over 3,000 cities worldwide, proving that a commitment to sharing knowledge can create a ripple effect of impact. TED’s early persistence shows that sometimes, what doesn’t seem to succeed at first has the potential for massive success if nurtured and continued with vision. Through the Sapling Foundation’s guidance, TED remains a nonprofit dedicated to democratizing knowledge on a global scale, making sure the world’s most important ideas are free to access. From a niche idea to a worldwide movement, TED is proof that a commitment to persistence and purpose can lead to extraordinary success. #IdeasWorthSpreading #Innovation #Leadership #TEDx #CommunityImpact #GlobalSuccess #KnowledgeSharing #Inspiration #TechAndDesign #FutureOfLearning

TV game show style programs can show people how they think so they may become safer, more productive, better communicators and team members at business meetings, conferences, conventions as well as in schools and at social events (e.g., birthdays, FUNdraisers and reunions) 💬 Through these games, people may also become more sensitive to the needs of their customers, co-workers, leaders, direct reports and suppliers. In this article, Ronald G. Shapiro, PhD shares a few examples: https://lnkd.in/gG3jSBFK

Membership organizations are reporting higher levels of disengagement and decline than ever before. That’s a fact. It’s also a fact membership is not a recognized subject of expertise. There are no degrees, defined requirements, career paths, or educational tracks. This means the strategies essential to member engagement and growth have remained largely unknown, overlooked, guessed, or left to chance. It also means associations have continued to borrow best practices from business and non-profit models or relied on the traditions of the past. Join Sarah L. Sladek and the Arizona Society of Association Executives for a half-day workshop, ""MemberShift: Why Members Leave and the Strategies Proven to Bring Them Back"". Whether your association is struggling to engage younger members, show value, manage change, or strategize for the future, Sarah can help you create a meaningful ‘MemberShift’ in the association and place it on a renewed path for success! We are currently offering a special promo rate for organizations interested in attending the event. If you buy one ticket, you'll get 50% off the second! START WITH WHY! Simon Sinek’s Golden Circle framework—Why, How, and What—guides Rotaract clubs in crafting compelling sponsorship proposals by focusing on purpose first. Starting with the ”Why” communicates the club’s deeper mission, whether it's empowering youth, or promoting sustainable development through our 7 areas of focus. When clubs align their impact with a sponsor’s values, they build stronger emotional connections, appealing to sponsors seeking shared social responsibility goals. A proposal structured around Why, How, and What not only increases the chances of securing partnerships but also fosters meaningful, long-term collaborations that amplify both the club's and the sponsor's impact in the community. _Think you know your "Why"? It's time to go back and read Simon Sinek's Book “Start with Why”._ 😊 #PartnershipTuesdays #RotaractKe

Malcolm Forbes' said "Diversity: the art of thinking independently together" emphasizes the importance of two key ingredients for a successful and innovative gathering: 1. Diverse Perspectives: A conference that brings together people from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints creates a richer pool of ideas. This diversity allows participants to challenge assumptions, see problems from new angles, and spark creative solutions. 2. Collaborative Thinking: Simply having a diverse group isn't enough. The magic happens when participants can effectively share and build upon each other's ideas. The conference should foster an environment where independent thinking is encouraged, but where participants also actively listen, respect differences, and work together to reach new conclusions. #ConferenceOrganizerPH #EventsPH #PhilippinesEvents #MICEPhilippines #EventProPH #EventManagementPH #ManilaEvents #ConferencePlanningPH #VirtualEventsPH #HybridEventsPH #EventMarketingPH #CorporateEventsPH #NonProfitEventsPH #AssociationEventsPH
