Lehmann Marine Equips 6 Fish Farm Support Vessels with CUBE Battery Systems German-based Lehmann Marine GmbH, a leading provider of #marine #energystorage systems and market leader for safe #LFP-based #batterytechnology, is pleased to announce that it has received a significant order to supply six CUBE battery systems with a total capacity of 6.6 MWh for state-of-the-art fish farm support vessels. This order underlines the industry‘s trust in the innovative technology and quality of Lehmann Marine‘s compact and safe battery technology. Elmarin AS, a Norwegian system integrator providing #electricalengineering services for the #maritimeindustry, has placed the order. The SLETTA VERFT AS builds the six fish farm support vessels that will enlarge the fleets of FSV Group AS, Cermaq Norway AS , and Frøy AS. This significant order underlines Lehmann Marine and Elmarin‘s shared vision to deliver state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly #energysolutions for the maritime industry, especially for the challenging demands of the #fishfarming industry. The delicate ecosystem of a fish farm is an ideal application area for #emissionsfree and #noise-reduced vessels with #hybridelectric propulsion. The CUBE battery systems selected for this project are made in Germany and offer a unique combination of flexibility, safety, and efficiency. Thanks to their modular design, the batteries can be ideally adapted to the specific requirements of the #aquaculture farm support vessels and the limited space on board. The flexibility in configuration is combined with easy maintenance, thanks to small and easily accessible battery modules. The use of #lithiumironphosphate (LFP) technology ensures not only high performance and reliability but also improved safety during operation. Compared to traditional nickel-manganese-cobalt (#NMC) batteries, LFP batteries are much safer. In a thermal runaway, only gas is released and vented outside. https://lnkd.in/dXyRxqEU

World's first floating wind power-fishery integrated platform now operational in SE China's Fujian. The world's first floating wind power-fishery integrated platform started official operation at the Nanri Island offshore wind farm in Putian, southeast China's Fujian Province, on Friday, as part of China's efforts to support oceanic green development through an innovative model to produce marine green products and clean energy. Located at the center of the platform is a hexagonal water pool, beneath which lies a double-layered aquaculture net cage capable of accommodating 50,000 deep-sea fish. This innovative design enables the platform to simultaneously generate power on water and facilitate fish farming underwater. According to the staff, the development and construction of the wind power-fishery integrated platform is a multifaceted interdisciplinary project, involving research in energy and power as well as fish farming. Earlier in the year, we were brought in last minute for de-vegetation works as part of a shared fence renewal project adjacent to the M6 toll. With two weeks to quote, mobilise, complete all the health and safety, and complete the works it was going to be a fast turnaround. When we visited the site, we noticed a lot of established willows and hazel trees on the third party land adjacent to the fencing site that would likely be impacted by the de-vegetation and fence renewal. We asked about the root management plan. There wasn't one. So we brought in our Arboriculture Consultancy team who provided an Arb Impact Assessment and a Tree Survey. They also provided an Arboricultural Clerk of Works (ArbCoW) who was onsite throughout the works to protect the established tree roots. Our ArbCoW had a great relationship with the contractors on site, overseeing the fence installation, removing any roots those that could be removed without impacting the trees and assisting with the positioning of the protective membrane. Our operations part of the project took two shifts, to clear the vegetation, involving a standard tree crew, a whole tree chipper and a tractor with grain trailer. The tree chippings were taken away for use as biomass. With so many specialists on site, all with specific jobs to complete, it was so helpful to have a dedicated person looking after the established trees. It meant that everyone could focus on the part of delivery they were responsible for and ultimately, was of huge benefit to the existing trees and surrounding nature. #rootmanagementplan #protectingestablishedtrees #arbimpactassessment #devegetation #becausewecare

RWE and the Whitby Lobster Hatchery have released 2,500 juvenile lobsters at the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm in the UK in what the wind farm developer says is an industry-first project, through which more than 15,000 lobsters are planned to be released at Triton Knoll. The first batch of 2,500 juvenile lobsters was settled at the offshore wind farm in November and a further 2,500 are expected to arrive at the site early next year. According to RWE, which said last month that the project’s goal was to help increase biodiversity in the North Sea, there is the potential for a further 10,000 lobsters to be released over the next two years, in 2025 and 2026. The lobsters will be hatched at the Whitby Lobster Hatchery, operated by North Sea Conservation which aims to release 100,000 juvenile lobsters into the sea. The hatchery formally opened in 2023 and has been provided with support and funding from RWE’s Sofia offshore wind farm, the developer says. As part of the agreement under which the Triton Knoll project is running, RWE will also be providing investment to the hatchery to help cover the costs of additional staffing and the equipment needed to meet the demands of the hatchery operation and reporting, according to the developer. “Lobsters are not just a cornerstone species for marine ecosystems; they are also essential to the vitality of coastal communities in Yorkshire and the North East. These remarkable creatures are both iconic and crucial to maintaining the health and balance of our oceans. Together with RWE, we are committed to safeguarding and restoring the rich marine heritage of our region”, said Joe Redfern, Whitby Lobster Hatchery General Manager. The 857 MW Triton Knoll is owned by RWE (59 per cent), J-Power (24 per cent) and Kansai Electric Power (16 per cent) with RWE managing the construction phase of the project and operating the wind farm on behalf of the partnership. The offshore wind farm, located 32 kilometres off the coast of Lincolnshire, comprises 90 Vestas V164-9.5 MW turbines, all of which were commissioned in January 2022. https://lnkd.in/eGxhnCcN

Andfjord Salmon Group AS (Andfjord Salmon) today announces that the development of the waterways and tunnel infrastructure below the pools at the company’s land-based aquaculture facility at Kvalnes, Andøya, Norway, are nearing completion. The progress on all workstreams is so far in line with or better than the original schedule. A total of 4.4 kilometres of tunnel infrastructure is being developed at Kvalnes, including inlet waterway, tunnel infrastructure below each pool, and outlet waterway. Only 50 metres of the outlet waterway and approximately 500 metres of the inlet waterway remain to be completed. In sum, this means that the tunnel construction at Kvalnes has already reached 85 percent completion, up from 73 percent in early September. “We have already conducted small diameter core drilling all the way through in the outlet tunnel and this gave us the answers we were hoping for. As both the outlet waterway and tunnel infrastructure below the pools are close to complete, we can scale down the number of machines and equipment involved with tunnel construction at Kvalnes. We are very satisfied with the progress of what is probably the most demanding workstream of the current build-out phase,” says Martin Rasmussen, CEO of Andfjord Salmon. #SolarTrackerNews TrinaTracker will be supplying 200MW Vanguard 2P trackers and the supporting Trina Smart Cloud monitoring platform for a large-scale wind-and-PV-based project. Once complete, the plant will operate using a power generation model in the upper layer with fish farming in the lower layer to achieve seamless integration of industry and agriculture, PV power generation, and aquaculture while minimizing harm to the environment. When installed in complex application settings, such as deserts, wastelands, agriculture, fisheries, and offshore mudflats, the Vanguard 2P reduces the amount of piling and work, minimizing the difficulty of construction and initial investment costs. Once commissioned, the Vanguard 2P delivers excellent structural design, high wind resistance, high terrain adaptability, and high reliability for enhanced performance and optimized power generation.
