In April, I had the privilege of speaking at the WA Council of Social Service Emerging Issues Forum about the barriers young people face when entering the community sector workforce. I spoke about some BIG questions: 🌟 How do we become more inclusive of young people in the community sector? 🌟 How do we attract more young people to the community sector? I've found through my own experience and talking to peers that young people are often criticized for not following rules that are never explained. Supporting those with lived experience means meeting us where we are and facilitating our learning journey. My suggested answers to this: 🌈 Listen to the experiences of young people & work collaboratively with them. 🌈 Write a jargon/corporate lingo guidebook. 🌈 Work WITH the trends of our generation, our values and our access needs. We can never deny that no matter our social or economic status, WE MATTER! ✨ It’s crucial to remember that our voices and actions hold immense power and significance. Standing up not only for ourselves but also for what’s right is a step towards positive change and justice. This powerful reminder was eloquently said at the National Action Network, where our co-founder Caroline A. Wanga received the National Action Network 2024 Keepers of the Dream Cultural Award, recognized by Al Sharpton! We often underestimate the impact we can have. Every voice counts, and every action can contribute to a larger movement. Let’s take this to heart and continue to advocate for what we believe in, support each other, and make our collective voices heard. Thank you for this reminder that our voices DO MATTER! Let’s carry this energy forward and inspire others to stand up for themselves and the causes they are passionate about. Together, we can make a difference. _ Our goal is simple: democratize authenticity. Join our exclusive community by enrolling in our courses today!
