In July 2024, Maggie Blyth, the Police National Lead for #VAWG, declared violence against women and girls a national emergency. The National Policing Statement for VAWG revealed that over one million VAWG-related crimes were recorded in 2022/23, accounting for 20% of all police-recorded crime, with a 37% increase in such crimes since 2018. These figures highlight the urgent need for action to tackle this epidemic. As part of #16DaysOfActivism, I joined fellow activists, campaigners, and Government Ministers to spark vital conversations and shed light on the widespread violence women endure globally. I’m deeply honoured to be able to collaborate with incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to combating gender-based violence, both globally and here in the UK. Education has always been, in my view, the most powerful tool in addressing this issue, and I hope this video plays a meaningful role in driving that message forward. 👊 Ending violence against women and girls requires all of us to act—governments, activists, and communities. Let’s make the next decade a turning point. 🔗 Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/edJfHt2X 🔹 Anneliese Dodds – Minister for Development & Women and Equalities 🔹 Alexandra Davies-Jones – Minister for Victims and VAWG 🔹 Jess Phillips – Minister for Safeguarding and VAWG 🔹 Sharon Gaffka – Spiking campaigner 🔹 Rehema Muthamia – Solace Women’s Aid ambassador 🔹 Jess Davies – Online misogyny campaigner 🔹 Nour Norris – Domestic abuse campaigner 🔹 Halimot Ogunnaike – FGM/C and human trafficking campaigner 🔹 Sema Gornall – Human rights activist and CEO of The Vavengers #16DaysOfActivism #VAWG #EndViolence #GenderEquality #GlobalCommitment #WomenSupportingWomen

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and this message hits close to home. As a survivor of domestic violence, I’ve seen firsthand how devastating and isolating it can be—but I’ve also seen the power of support, connection, and advocacy in helping rebuild lives. What resonates deeply with me is the reminder that there’s #NoExcuse for gender-based violence. Not at home, not at work, not online—nowhere. Building authentic relationships and offering support when someone isn’t “asking for help” can make all the difference. Just like with funders, it’s about showing up before there’s an ask—offering understanding, compassion, and action because it’s the right thing to do. Today, let’s commit to being part of the change—whether that’s standing up for a survivor, sharing resources, or working to create a world where violence is no longer tolerated.
Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It is a call to action and a reminder that violence against women and girls is the most pervasive human rights violation worldwide. There is #NoExcuse for gender-based violence, not at home, not at the workplace, not in public, not online. Nowhere. #DomesticViolence #EndDV #SupportingSurvivors

Respect is knowing that violence against women is a men’s issue. Men are starting to have the conversation about what they can do to end the national crisis of gender-based violence. We need to make sure this conversation keeps going, by talking to our friends, recognising the warning signs of violence, challenging abusive behaviours, and listening to women and survivors of all genders without judgement or defensiveness.
